Background And Aim Of The Work: Surface replacement arthroplasty (SRA) is an alternative to stemmed total hip arthroplasty (THA) providing a femoral bone preserving procedure. Because of the wider surgical dissection, an increased blood loss could be expected. This retrospective study evaluates the transfusion requirement in two homogeneous groups of patients who underwent primary hip replacement electively.

Purpose: To evaluate the time course of sensorimotor integration processes involved in balance capability during 1-year follow-up after arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. To evaluate whether an association exists between balance performance and semitendinosus muscle morphometry features.
Methods: Twenty-seven patients (mean age 29.
Purpose: The aim of this retrospective study was to report the clinical and radiographic results of the biodegradable subacromial spacer (InSpace Balloon®) implantation in patients with massive irreparable rotator cuff tears.
Materials And Methods: From February 2014 to October 2015, 30 patients affected by massive irreparable rotator cuff tears were treated with the implantation of InSpace Balloon®. Clinical evaluation (Constant Score and VAS), X-rays and MR imaging were performed preoperatively in all patients and 3, 6, 12 and 24 months after surgery, dividing patients in different groups according to the time elapsed from surgery.
We report two cases of adjacent segment degeneration in patients with idiopathic scoliosis who underwent surgical treatment with Harrington instrumentation in young age. Both patients developed a symptomatic degeneration of the disk immediately under the last stabilized level and were treated with decompression and stabilization. Clinical and radiological results are satisfactory at the follow-up.

Arthroscopy is a choice for the treatment of initial stages of osteoarthritis (OA) in order to reduce evolution of the degenerative processes; advanced degrees of osteoarthritis are absolute contraindications.
Materials And Methods: 40 patients affected by osteoarthritis in FAI underwent hip arthroscopy between May 2010 and March 2015.
The incidence and severity of heterotopic ossification (HO) in two homogeneous groups of patients that received surface replacement arthroplasty (SRA) and conventional total hip arthroplasty (THA) were evaluated retrospectively. Thirty-nine patients undergoing 42 hip resurfacing procedures and 41 primary cementless THAs through an anterolateral approach received a 10-day course of 150 mg/die of indomethacin postoperatively. The median surgical time was 190 minutes and 156 minutes, respectively (P < 0.

To the authors' knowledge, late recurrent dislocation of a THA with a ceramic-on-ceramic coupling secondary to fatigue fracture of the ceramic liner has never been described. A 76-year-old woman with right hip osteoarthritis underwent cementless modular THA with a ceramic-on-ceramic coupling.
