Osteochondral injuries in the knee are uncommon in the immature skeleton and are usually related to sporting activities. Fixation is required depending on the size and location of the fragment. The standard technique is open reduction and internal fixation with metal screws, which are removed in a second procedure after consolidation.

 The objective of this work is to compare blood loss during primary knee arthroplasty with the use of intravenous and intraarticular (IV + IA) tranexamic acid intraarticular (IA) tranexamic acid alone.  This is a randomized, double-blind clinical trial. Patients with indication for primary total knee arthroplasty were recruited in a specialized clinic, where they were operated by the same surgeon, always using the same surgical technique.
