Anterior line ablation for peri-mitral atrial flutter (AFL) is associated with biatrial flutter due to disruption of the electrical conduction in the left atrial septum. An AFL case with valvular disease, cardiac surgery, and prior ablation was confirmed to be counterclockwise peri-mitral flutter with isthmus on the left atrial septum. Ablation on the septum of the left atrium (LA) targeting the isthmus prolonged the tachycardia cycle length (TCL) from 266 to 286 ms.

Sick sinus syndrome (SSS) is a term used to describe dysfunction of the sinoatrial (SA) node that can lead to various cardiac arrhythmias that predominately manifest in the elderly. Commonly implicated arrhythmias vary from inappropriate bradycardia, tachycardia, sinus pauses, and rarely sinus arrest. Despite being a common reason for permanent pacemaker implantation, little is known regarding the incidence of SSS and there is even less reporting on SSS complicated by prolonged asystole.

Aims: To summarize published case reports of patients diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and Brugada pattern electrocardiogram (ECG).

Methods: The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses checklist were followed. A literature search was conducted using PubMed, EMBASE, and Scopus up until September 2021.

Article Synopsis
  • - A case study highlights a rare type of atrial flutter called single-loop biatrial flutter, which can happen during ablation procedures in the left atrium.
  • - The flutter began in the right atrium and transitioned to a biatrial flutter as specific areas were ablated, indicating complex interaction between the heart's electrical pathways.
  • - Successful treatment involved additional ablation between certain pulmonary veins, suggesting that careful mapping and monitoring are crucial when dealing with atypical atrial flutters.
