Article Synopsis
  • Researchers created a series of coumarin-pyridine compounds as potential multi-functional drugs for Alzheimer's disease (AD) treatment.
  • These compounds demonstrated strong inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE), with some outperforming the standard drug donepezil.
  • The most effective compound not only inhibited key enzymes but also protected nerve cells from toxic effects and reduced harmful protein aggregation, indicating it could be a promising candidate for AD therapy.

A series of 2-aryl/alkyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-naphtho[1,2-e][1,3]oxazines (S-S) were synthesized with an eco-friendly and recoverable nanocatalyst (GO-FeO-Ti) as an efficient magnetic composite. The new nanocatalyst was characterized by FT-IR, XRD and, EDS analysis. A conformable procedure, easy to work up and having a short reaction time with high yields are some advantages of this method.

Alzheimer's disease (AD), the most common form of dementia, is a multifactorial neurodegenerative disease. The target enzymes inhibition including cholinesterase, beta-secretase, monoamine oxidase and inhibition of amyloid-β aggregation as well as oxidative stress and metal chelation play an important role in the pathogenesis of AD. Chroman-4-one scaffold with benzo-γ-pyrone network is a privileged structure in organic synthesis and drug design.

Background: Dysmenorrhea or menstrual pain is one of the most common disorders experienced by 50% of women in their reproductive age. Adverse effects of medical treatments and its failure rate of 20-25% have caused many women to seek other complementary and alternative treatment methods for primary dysmenorrhea. Hence, this study aimed to compare and determine the efficacy of reflexology and Ibuprofen on reduction of pain intensity and duration of menstrual pain.
