Background: Erbium lasers safely offer the possibility of reuse for debonded restorations. Since these lasers have a high affinity for water molecules, they are absorbed by resin cement causing explosive ablation of the cement and thus, the restoration debonds. The efficiency of this process depends on many factors, including the ceramic type, its chemical composition and thickness.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the Intra-Discal Vacuum Phenomenon (IDVP) in lumbar spines of people over 60, finding that IDVP is common, affecting over 50% of the sample, and its severity increases towards the lower spine.
  • - Using CT scans, researchers analyzed 2020 cases to understand how age, pelvic incidence (PI), and degenerative issues like fractures impact the occurrence of IDVP.
  • - Results suggest that lower pelvic incidence correlates with higher IDVP rates, especially at the L5S1 level, and reveal connections between IDVP and other spinal degenerative conditions, contributing to the understanding of aging spine mechanics.

Article Synopsis
  • The study involved analyzing CT scans of the lumbar spine in older adults to understand the relationship between intradiscal vacuum phenomenon (IDVP) and disc degeneration over time.
  • Results showed that while most cases of IDVP stayed at a similar severity, some worsened, improved, or fused, with new cases developing in some patients during the study period.
  • Interestingly, the presence of IDVP did not correlate with significantly worse back pain among participants, suggesting that back pain experiences vary despite degeneration severity.

Background: Cardiovascular disease starts early in the course of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and is the leading cause of death in patients with end-stage renal disease. Since high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) can detect much lower levels of myocardial injury than conventional assays, it may be useful for studying the earliest stages of heart disease in patients with CKD.

Objective: To evaluate the association of circulating hs-cTnT with LV structural and functional abnormalities detected by echocardiography among dialysis dependent and non-dialysis dependent CKD patients.

The present work aims to study 6-amino-4-aryl-2-oxo-1-phenyl-1,2-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarbonitrile derivatives namely: 6-Amino-2-oxo-1,4-diphenyl-1,2-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarbonitrile (PdC-H), 6-Amino-2-oxo-1-phenyl-4-(p-tolyl)-1,2-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarbonitrile (PdC-Me) and 6-Amino-4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-oxo-1-phenyl-1,2-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarbonitrile (PdC-OH) as corrosion inhibitors to provide protection for carbon steel in a molar hydrochloric acid medium. Chemical measurements such as (weight loss) and electrochemical techniques such as (Potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and Electron frequency modulation) were applied to characterize the inhibitory properties of the synthesized derivatives. The adsorption of these derivatives on the carbon steel surface was confirmed by Attenuated Total Refraction Infrared (ATR-IR), Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS).

Heat stress negatively affects reproduction in cattle by disrupting the normal function of ovarian granulosa cells (GCs), ultimately leading to oxidative damage and cell death via apoptosis. Heme oxygenase-1(HO-1) is a member of the heat shock protein family, which are associated with cellular antioxidant defenses and anti-apoptotic functions. Recent studies demonstrated that HO-1 is upregulated in heat-stressed cells.
