Secondary metabolites (SMs) are the primary source of therapeutics and lead chemicals in medicine. They have been especially important in the creation of effective cures for conditions such as cancer, malaria, bacterial and fungal infections, neurological and cardiovascular problems, and autoimmune illnesses. In the present study, Aspergillus pseudodeflectus AUMC 15761 was demonstrated to use wheat bran in solid state fermentation (SSF) at optimum conditions (pH 7.

The ability of the three strains to manufacture lovastatin in solid-state fermentation (SSF) using wheat bran was assessed using gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS). The most potent strain was strain AUMC 15760, which was chosen to ferment nine types of lignocellulosic waste (barley bran, bean hay, date palm leaves, flax seeds, orange peels, rice straw, soy bean, sugarcane bagasse, and wheat bran), with sugarcane bagasse turning out to be the best substrate.

Objective: Poor healing is one of the major complications of microbial contamination of wounds. When the skin is damaged, microorganisms can quickly invade the underlying tissues and cause infections that are potentially life-threatening. As a result, effective therapies are required to handle such pathological disorders.

Methods: An observational case-control study was conducted on 60 patients eligible for phacoemulsification, divided equally into diabetic and control groups. Both study groups were matching in sex, age, and axial length.
The incidence of Extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-encoding genes ( and ) among Gram-negative multidrug-resistant pathogens collected from three different countries was investigated. Two hundred and ninety-two clinical isolates were collected from Egypt ( = 90), Saudi Arabia ( = 162), and Sudan ( = 40). Based on the antimicrobial sensitivity against 20 antimicrobial agents from 11 antibiotic classes, the most resistant strains were selected and identified using the Vitek2 system and 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis.

This study aimed to address the floristic structure and association diversity of the inland sand seas in central Saudi Arabia after 20 years of protection. Twenty-three relevés were selected in Nafud Al-Urayq reserve to cover different sandy dune variations.

This study aimed to investigate benefits from adding l-carnitine to ongoing glimepiride compared to glimepiride monotherapy on IR in diabetic patients who failed to achieve their glycemic goals on glimepiride monotherapy.
Methods: 58 patients were recruited from Internal Medicine Department, Tanta University Hospital, Egypt then prospectively randomized to receive their glimepiride dose 2 mg twice daily (group 1) or glimepiride 2 mg twice daily + l-carnitine 1 g m twice daily (group 2) for 6 months.
The present study deals with synthesizing novel cellulose derivative, from modifying the carboxymethyl cellulose with amino phenylpropanoic acid (CMC-APP). The synthesized CMC-APP was evaluated as biological and anti-cancer active compound. The molecular structures of this active compound were built using the HyperChem program 7.

The Xylariaceae is one of the best-known pyrenomycete families (Ascomycota) and is distributed throughout the world. The majority are wood inhabitants and are prevalent in tropical and subtropical regions. Halorosellinia oceanicum is the most widely distributed in mangroves and can be regarded as truly manglicolous being frequently recorded as the dominant member of the family in such environments in S.

Aim: The aim of this work was to investigate the impact of life events on the profile of opioid dependent patients.
Method: Recruitment was achieved through outpatient drug treatment clinic in Birmingham, UK, and data were collected through semistructured interviews. One-hundred and twenty subjects with opioid dependence syndrome were interviewed, and 100 controls of non-drug-using family members and friends.
Background: An understanding of the causes of blindness and the magnitude of the problem is crucial in designing effective intervention and prevention programs. We undertook this retrospective review to determine the causes of childhood blindness at an eye referral center.
Patients And Methods: We reviewed charts of children who presented between August 1997 and August 2003.
Objective: To describe the incidence and radiographic signs of hand infection in mycetoma.
Methods: A retrospective review was carried out from the radiographic records of 516 confirmed cases of mycetoma seen between January 1994 and October 2002 at the referred outpatient clinic of the Mycetoma Research Center, Soba Teaching Hospital, Khartoum University, Khartoum, Sudan.
Results: The hands were involved in 24 (4.
Purpose: To report major complications associated with laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).
Methods: Twenty-four eyes of 23 patients who underwent LASIK in different centers in Saudi Arabia were included. There were 9 women and 14 men.
Purpose: To report a case of bilateral corneal neurotrophic ulcer in patient with congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis (CIPA) and review the literature.
Case Report: A 6 year-old boy presented with bilateral central corneal sterile ulcer, decreased corneal sensitivity, moderately altered corneal reflex and normal tearing response. History taken, systemic evaluation and medical chart review were undertaken.
This study was conducted to determine the relationship between interpupillary distance, interalar distance and the width of the six anterior teeth to be used as a guide during selecting the width of the six anterior teeth. 163 subjects were included in this study. A digital caliper used for facial and tooth measurements.

Purpose: To describe two children who developed anterior uveitis after vaccination for common childhood diseases.
Methods: A retrospective study of two Saudi patients who were seen at The Eye Center, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Results: Aged 12 and 14, respectively, the two patients developed anterior non-granulomatous uveitis 6 and 4 weeks after having the combined vaccination for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR).
The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the long term effects of unilateral dense central corneal scars on the axial length and development of lens opacities. We included 12 patients with unilateral dense central corneal scars of early onset before the age of seven years. This study served as naturally-controlled experiment and demonstrated a statistically significant increase in ocular axial length and decrease in the incidence of cataract in the eye with central corneal scar.
