Background And Objectives: Violence against women (VAW) is widespread and can have serious physical and mental health consequences, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and sleep disorders. Victim-survivors often face barriers in accessing specialised care, highlighting the need for a multidisciplinary response, especially in healthcare settings. The Maison des Femmes (MdF) model provides holistic support to women experiencing VAW, including medical, psychological, social and legal support.

Introduction: Breast cancer survivors (BCSs) are often faced with multiple mental and physical sequelae and are at increased risk of emotional distress, degraded health-related quality of life (HRQoL), chronic pain and fatigue.Physical activity is strongly associated with improved HRQoL and survival rates; however, adherence rates to recommendations for a healthy lifestyle are seldom satisfactory among BCSs. Also, few studies have examined the effectiveness of multicomponent and personalised interventions that integrate physical activity and motivational techniques to improve the HRQoL of BCS.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on determining how common post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is among women who have experienced intimate partner violence (IPV) at the 'Maison des Femmes' and two municipal health centers.
  • It utilized a mixed-methods approach, collecting quantitative data through questionnaires and qualitative insights via interviews from participants.
  • Results indicated that about 60% of surveyed women were diagnosed with PTSD, with many noting negative health self-assessments and expressing positive views about the specialized care received at the MdF.

Introduction: The high level of emotional problems in youths placed in foster care contrasts with the limited use of evidence-based treatments. This study aims to better characterize the clinical features and therapeutic outcomes of foster care youths with mood disorders.

Methods: A secondary analysis of data collected in the context of a French-Canadian clinical research network on pediatric mood disorders in four sites was conducted to compare three groups of patients with depressive or bipolar disorder: those without exposure to child welfare intervention (WCWI,  = 181), those who received non-placement psychosocial intervention (NPI,  = 62), and those in placement interventions (PI,  = 41).

Introduction: Individuals who have a low socio-economic position (SEP) are more likely to smoke and face greater barriers to quitting tobacco. However, the effectiveness of tailored interventions has been limited probably due to specific challenges relative to this population. We conducted a mixed-method study to better understand health professionals' perceptions and barriers when implementing a preference-based smoking cessation (SC) intervention among disadvantaged smokers.

Purposel: The experience of sexual violence has been associated with sleeping disorders; however, few studies have examined this association using a large sample of the general population. This study investigates whether lifetime experience of sexual violence and childhood experience of sexual violence are associated with insomnia.

Methods: Our study is based on data from the 2017 French Health Barometer, a general population phone cross-sectional survey, which included 25 319 adults aged 18-75 years in 2017.

Introduction: Many smoking cessation aids such as nicotine replacement treatments and e-cigarettes have been proven effective in aiding smoking cessation attempts. Encouraging smokers with low socioeconomic position (SEP) to choose their smoking aid tool based on their preferences, and giving that tool free of charge, might increase the odds of smoking cessation. This trial examines the effectiveness of the 'STOP' (: Smoking cessation using preference-based tools), a preference-based smoking cessation intervention for smokers with low SEP.

We examine the association between trajectories of childhood adversities and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) using a register-based Danish cohort. The DANish LIFE Course (DANLIFE) cohort includes and prospectively follows all individuals born in Denmark from 1980. We estimated the rate of PTSD diagnosed from age 16, according to childhood adversity trajectories from age 0 to 16 (n = 1 277 548).

Background: Small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs) are non-coding RNAs that are conserved from archaebacteria to mammals. They are associated in the nucleolus, with proteins to form small nucleolar ribonucleoprotein (snoRNPs). They modify ribosomal RNAs, for example, the H/ACA box that converts uridine to pseudouridine.

Colon cancer develops according to a defined temporal sequence of genetic and epigenetic molecular events that may primarily affect cancer stem cells. In an attempt to identify new markers of such cells that would help predict patient outcome, we performed a comparative transcriptome analysis of colon cancer stem cells and normal colon stem cells. We identified 162 mRNAs, either over- or under-expressed.

The purpose of this study was to compare in a multireader manner the diagnostic accuracies of 3-T multiparametric MRI interpretation and serial prostate-specific antigen (PSA) measurement in predicting the presence of residual clinically significant prostate cancer after focal laser ablation. Eighteen men had undergone focal laser ablation for low- or intermediate-risk prostate cancer as part of two National Cancer Institute-funded phase 1 clinical trials. Multiparametric MRI was performed immediately after and 6 and 12 months after focal laser ablation.

Although several studies have shown a positive association between socio-economic position and size at birth, not enough is known about the modifiable factors that may be involved. We aimed to investigate whether maternal prepregnancy body mass index (BMI), smoking, diet, and depression during pregnancy mediate the positive association between maternal education and birth size. Weight and length z-scores specific for gestational age and sex were calculated for 1,500 children from the EDEN mother-child cohort.

Context: France has high smoking rates, and recently intensified tobacco control policies spearheaded by the introduction of plain tobacco packaging (PP), and an increase in graphic health warnings (GHW). We examine smoking and e-cigarettes use rates, as well as smoking-related perceptions before (2016) and one year after (2017) comprehensive tobacco control measures.

The purpose of this article is to evaluate restriction spectrum imaging (RSI) in men undergoing MRI-ultrasound fusion biopsy for suspected prostate cancer (PCa) and to compare the performance of RSI with that of conventional DWI. One hundred ninety-eight biopsy-naïve men enrolled in a concurrent prospective clinical trial evaluating MRI-targeted prostate biopsy underwent multiparametric MRI with RSI. Clinical and imaging features were compared between men with and without clinically significant (CS) PCa (MRI-ultrasound fusion biopsy Gleason score ≥ 3 + 4).
