Background: Around 7% of the global population has congenital hemoglobin disorders, with over 300,000 new cases of α-thalassemia annually. Diagnosis is costly and inaccurate in low-income regions, often relying on complete blood count (CBC) tests. This study employs machine learning (ML) to classify α-thalassemia traits based on gender and CBC, exploring the effects of grouping silent- and non-carriers.

The present study investigated the outcomes of patients with FL who underwent contemporary first-line therapies but would not have been eligible for inclusion in recent trials and explored how commonly used in/exclusion criteria impacted their survival outcomes. This study included adult patients diagnosed with FL in the period 2000-2018 registered in the Danish Lymphoma Registry.

More awareness and improvements in the diagnostic methods in later years have led to more patients being diagnosed. Here, we set out to present the prevalence and incidence rate of mastocytosis among the adult Danish population.

The International Prognostic Index (IPI) is the most frequently used tool for prognostication in patients with newly diagnosed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) of all ages. This study validated and compared six models developed for patients above 60 with International Prognostic Indices (IPI, R-IPI, NCCN-IPI). Moreover, we created a clinical nomogram with an online tool for individualized predictions.

Contemporary cHL treatment may be associated with less risk because radiotherapy use and techniques have changed substantially over time.
Methods: In this study, Swedish cHL patients diagnosed in 2000-2018, and treated with adriamycin [doxorubicin], bleomycin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine (ABVD) or bleomycin, etoposide, Adriamycin [doxorubicin], cyclophosphamide, vincristine, procarbazine, and prednisone (BEACOPP), were matched 1:10 to the general population on birth year and sex to investigate relative rates and cumulative risks of CHF.
Objectives: Accurate prevalence estimates of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) are important for numerous purposes including orphan drug designation. A key criterion for orphan drug designation is a disease prevalence of less than 5/10,000 persons. The objective is to apply and compare different methods of prevalence assessment.

When possible, all efforts should be made to remove geographic, demographic, cultural and ethnic barriers for enrolment in clinical trials. However, to do this effectively, we need more knowledge about factors influencing clinical trial participation and practical frameworks to enhance diversity in clinical trials.

We present updated data from a nationwide study on the incidence and clinical characteristics of SCNSL. The incidence of SCNSL was calculated considering death or relapse without SCNSL as competing risks.

Methods: The nationwide register-based cohort study included 12 994 patients diagnosed with leukaemia, multiple myeloma and lymphoma in 2014-2018 and 10 matched references. Patient pathways were analysed in unplanned routes (acute admission up to 1 month's prior diagnosis) and elective routes (other routes, e.
Risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in patients with classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) undergoing contemporary treatment is unclear. cHL patients ≥ 18 years at diagnosis treated with doxorubicin-containing chemotherapy between 2000 and 2022 were matched 1:5 with comparators on birth year, sex, and Charlson Comorbidity Index at time of matching (score of 0 or ≥ 1). Cause-specific cumulative incidence of a composite of CVDs with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were computed with death and lymphoma relapse as competing events (i.

Here we report selected quality parameters related to diagnosis, treatment, and outcome of newly diagnosed AML among NWIPs (n = 119) and Danish-born patients (DBPs) (n = 4689). No adjusted differences were observed for time-to-diagnosis, time-to-treatment, treatment allocation, rates of complete remission, early death, allogeneic stem cell transplantation, and overall survival between NWIPs and DBPs.

However, recently several important advances have been made justifying a more contemporary analysis of outcomes in adult with ALL.
Methods: In this nationwide population-based cohort study, we included patients above 18 years of age diagnosed with ALL between January 1, 1998, and December 31, 2020.
Objectives: Recent front-line clinical trials used the International Prognostic Index (IPI) to identify trial-eligible patients with newly diagnosed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). However, many IPI-like variants with improved accuracy have been developed over the years for rituximab-treated patients.
Methods: We assessed the impact of International Prognostic Indices on patient enrolment in clinical trials, aiming to exclude low-risk IPI patients based on POLARIX/EPCORE DLBCL-2 trial criteria.
Up to 50% of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients are ineligible for participation in clinical trials. Ineligible patients have inferior outcomes, but less is known about the impact of commonly used organ-function-based inclusion criteria on drug efficacy estimates. Data on DLBCL patients treated with CHOP+/-rituximab were retrieved from the Danish Lymphoma Registry.

Many patients are diagnosed in unplanned rather than elective (planned) diagnostic pathways. This study investigates the diagnosis of multiple myeloma in unplanned pathways and the association with patient characteristics, disease profile, and survival.

However, cutoff values for risk stratification vary markedly, according to the tumor delineation method used. We aimed to create a standardized TMTV benchmark dataset allowing TMTV to be tested and applied as a reproducible biomarker.

Due to the lack of randomized trials, a real-world data study using matching methods was used to test the potential effectiveness of R-CHOEP over R-CHOP.
Patients And Methods: This study included patients from the Danish Lymphoma Register diagnosed between 2006 and 2020 at the age of 18-60 years with de novo DLBCL and age-adjusted IPI ≥2.
Overall survival (OS) for patients with a hematological cancer may differ between immigrant and Danish-born patients due to disparities in socioeconomic status, health literacy, and language proficiency. This cohort study aimed to investigate survival and hospitalization according to immigrant status while controlling for confounders. Patients with newly diagnosed hematological cancer in 2000-2020 were identified in the Danish nationwide hematological registers and stratified into Danish-born, Western, and non-Western patients.

However, the role of β2M in DLBCL patients is not fully understood.
Methods: We identified 6075 patients with newly diagnosed DLBCL treated with immunochemotherapy registered in the Danish Lymphoma Registry.
The documented treatment-induced excess mortality in Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) has spurred important treatment changes over recent decades. This study aimed to examine mortality among young HL patients treated with contemporary strategies, including historical data comparison. This nationwide study included 1348 HL patients, diagnosed in 1995-2015 and aged 15-40 at diagnosis.

Previous studies have suggested that metformin has beneficial effects beyond its glucose-lowering properties, particularly in terms of its potential as an antineoplastic and cancer-preventive agent. In this study, we aimed to investigate the association between metformin use and the risk of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). We conducted a population-based case-control study using Danish registers.
