This paper contributes to the expanding knowledge base on nanomaterial-enhanced cementitious composites, offering valuable insights for developing high-performance, sustainable concrete solutions. The study assessed the effects of three different types of nanomaterials-nano clay (NC), nano silica (NS), and nano cellulose (NCel)-on the compressive strength of high-early-strength concrete (HESC) through both experimental studies and a 2 factorial design. Incorporating nanomaterials into the HESC matrix led to a decrease in workability, with NCel demonstrating the least impact on this property across all studied replacement percentages.

Two distinct woven fabrics with comparable strength resistance were fabricated and assessed. Concrete beams were compared in their original form and those reinforced with woven fabrics, along with beams reinforced with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) (B, BC2, BC4, BS1, and BS2).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFLightweight concrete, particularly polystyrene concrete, has been extensively utilized in civil engineering for decades. The incorporation of waste expanded polystyrene (EPS) as a filler material in the production of lightweight concrete presents significant advantages from a circular economy perspective. Prior research indicates that increasing the proportion of lightweight aggregates, such as EPS, typically results in reductions in strength and bulk density.

Fishmeal substitution with sustainable feed sources is highly essential towards sustainable production. This study aimed to investigate the effects of substituting fishmeal (FM) with Daphnia magna biomass meal (DBM) or zooplankton biomass meal (ZBM) on growth performance, liver and intestinal histology, gut bacterial abundance and stress tolerance of Nile tilapia, Oreochromis niloticus, fry. Nile tilapia fry (0.

Forty samples were collected along Baltim-El Burullus coastal plain to detect the effect of these problems and determine the suggested solutions. The black sand of the Baltim-El Burullus coastal plain exhibits a considerable amount of economically heavy minerals, their ratio relative to the bulk composition in the investigated samples ranges from 3.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe development of sustainable construction materials is a pressing concern for researchers worldwide, as the cement industry is a major contributor to environmental degradation. The incorporation of nano-materials with cement composites has emerged as a promising solution to sustainable materials production. In this study, the effect of the addition of nano cellulose produced from wood sawdust waste on the performance of cement-based nano-silica composite was investigated.

The North Abu Rusheid area in Egypt is a well-known high background natural radiation area (HBNRA) due to the existence of naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORMs) in mylonitic rocks. In this study, 27 rock samples were selected for dose estimation studies. U and Th were measured using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and K was measured using sodium iodide (thallium) gamma-ray spectroscopy.

The obtained results ranged from 0.4 to 6 ppm for eU with a mean value of 2.

In addition, the drainage water of the fish cultures could be used in plant irrigation. In this study, biomasses of water flea Daphnia magna and Gammarus pulex collected and tested, for the first time, their effect against pathogenic microorganisms and on plant germination.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAccumulating evidence has indicated that immune regulatory cells are involved in the establishment of the anti-tumor activity, however; the role of regulatory B cells (B-regs) in breast cancer (BC) remains unclear. This study intended to assess the frequency of peripheral B-regs phenotypes in patients with BC, and to determine the relation between these phenotypes and the patient's clinicopathological characters. The expressions of the immune cell populations were analyzed by four-color flow cytometry in 40 naïve BC patients and 10 age-matched apparently healthy individuals as controls attending the department of Clinical Oncology and Nuclear Medicine at Assiut University Hospitals.

Patients And Methods: This prospective randomised double-arm trial was conducted at a tertiary care hospital in Egypt from February to December 2020. Adult patients with single, non-lower pole, high-density (≥1000 HU) renal stones were randomised to receive mini-PCNL or ESWL.
Background: Interleukin-18 (IL-18) and interferon-γ (IFN-γ) are cytokines of crucial role in inflammation and immune reactions. There is a growing evidence supporting important roles for IL-18 and IFN γ in tuberculosis (TB) infection and anti-tuberculosis immunity.
Objective: To evaluate the role of polymorphisms in IL-18-607 and -137 and INF-γ +874 in susceptibility to TB infection among Egyptian patients.
This study was performed to determine the role of autophagy-related 16-like 1 (ATG16L1, rs2241880) and IL10 (rs1800872) polymorphisms in the susceptibility to and early prediction of breast cancer in Egyptians. The study included 50 breast cancer patients and 50 apparently healthy controls. The PCR-RFLP technique was used to detect ATG16L1 (rs2241880) and IL10 (rs1800872) genotypes.
