Lupus nephritis (LN) is a serious problem that results from systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) complications. Recent studies have highlighted that non-coding RNA (ncRNA) dysregulation is a notable feature in patients with SLE. As a result, this research was designed to investigate lncRNA CASC2 and miR-155 levels as non-invasive diagnostic biomarkers in SLE patients, including those with and without nephritis, and to investigate their effectiveness in assessing disease severity and predicting LN.

Stapler versus conventional pharyngeal repair after total laryngectomy: a randomized clinical trial.

Objectives: The aim of the current study was to evaluate the functional outcomes of stapler pharyngeal closure after total laryngectomy by the incidence of PCT and assessment of swallowing after surgery. Objectives: The objective of this study was to assess the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) landscape and the impact of COVID-19 on AMR in Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon, and to gather expert opinions on the barriers to the implementation of antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) initiatives in the region.

Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was used to assess the current AMR landscape, existing AMS initiatives, barriers to implementing AMS initiatives, and the impact of COVID-19 on AMR in the four countries.

Results: The survey was completed by 204 physicians from Egypt (n = 82), Lebanon (n = 49), Iraq (n = 43), and Jordan (n = 30).

This study aims at evaluating the therapeutic activity and adverse drug reactions associated with the use of the newly synthesized pyrazole derivative, compound AD732, E-4-[3-(4-methylphenyl)-5-hydroxyliminomethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl]benzenesulfonamide, as compared to indomethacin and celecoxib as standard agents. Anti-inflammatory activity was assessed using carrageenan-induced rat paw edema and cotton pellet granuloma tests; formalin-induced hyperalgesia and hot plate tests were done to study analgesic activity.

Invasive Fungal Sinusitis in Post COVID-19 Patients: A New Clinical Entity.

Objectives: Occurrence of invasive fungal respiratory superinfections in patients with COVID-19 has gained increasing attention in the latest studies. Yet, description of acute invasive fungal sinusitis with its management in those patients is still scarce. Serum Long Non-Coding RNAs PVT1, HOTAIR, and NEAT1 as Potential Biomarkers in Egyptian Women with Breast Cancer.

Long non-coding RNAs play an important role in tumor growth, angiogenesis, and metastasis in several types of cancer. However, the clinical significance of using lncRNAs as biomarkers for breast cancer diagnosis and prognosis is still poorly investigated. In this study, we analyzed the serum expression levels of lncRNAs PVT1, HOTAIR, NEAT1, and MALAT1, and their associated proteins, PAI-1, and OPN, in breast cancer patients compared to fibroadenoma patients and healthy subjects.

Outcome comparison of submucous resection versus combined submucous diathermy and outfracture for treatment of inferior turbinate hypertrophy.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the outcome of submucous resection and combined submucous diathermy with outfracture technique in treatment of nasal obstruction caused by inferior turbinate hypertrophy.

Methods: This study is a prospective randomized clinical trial involving 90 patients with hypertrophied inferior turbinate not responding to medical treatment. All patients were selected with equal or near equal mucosal and bony turbinate components using computed tomography (CT) and then randomly allocated into two groups; group A (n = 45): underwent submucous resection in both sides and group B (n = 45): underwent combined submucous diathermy and outfracture in both sides.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common life-threatening complication. In this study, β-amyrin is hypothesized to exert a potential nephroprotective effect against glycerol-induced nephrotoxicity in rats. Thirty-two female Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four groups: normal control, β-amyrin treated (50 mg kg body weight) for 14 days, glycerol 25% (10 ml kg BW volume/volume in sterile saline, intramuscular), and β-amyrin + glycerol-treated rats.
