This paper contributes to the expanding knowledge base on nanomaterial-enhanced cementitious composites, offering valuable insights for developing high-performance, sustainable concrete solutions. The study assessed the effects of three different types of nanomaterials-nano clay (NC), nano silica (NS), and nano cellulose (NCel)-on the compressive strength of high-early-strength concrete (HESC) through both experimental studies and a 2 factorial design. Incorporating nanomaterials into the HESC matrix led to a decrease in workability, with NCel demonstrating the least impact on this property across all studied replacement percentages.

Here, we present the electrochemical determination of ammonium in water samples, emphasizing the importance of accurate and precise assessment of its concentration. The modified electrode used in this study was fabricated through the anodic polymerization of 1-aminoanthraquinone (1-AAQ) and deposition of silver particles into a carbon paste electrode. The fabrication process involved cyclic voltammetry in a 0.

Statement Of Problem: Changes in the oral microbiota of new complete denture wearers are the main cause of oral candidiasis. The drawbacks associated with traditional antimycotic therapies, especially drug resistance, have led to the search for potent therapeutic and prophylaxis agents with less harmful effects, including probiotics. However, investigation of the prophylaxis and preventive effects of probiotics on new complete denture wearers are lacking.

A groundbreaking optical sensing membrane has been engineered for the accurate assessment of copper ions. The pliable poly(vinyl chloride) membrane is formulated through the integration of sodium tetraphenylborate (Na-TPB), 4-(2-hydroxy-4-nitro azobenzene)-2-methyl-quinoline (HNAMQ), and tri-n-octyl phosphine oxide (TOPO), in conjunction with o-nitrophenyl octyl ether (o-NPOE). The sensor membrane undergoes a thorough investigation of its composition to optimize performance, revealing that HNAMQ serves a dual role as both an ionophore and a chromoionophore.

This article describes a newly designed Prosthetic Auricular Guide (PAG) that allows for accurate planning and positioning of both the auricular implants and the prosthetic auricle. The design aims to provide a cost-effective guiding device for more esthetic ear prostheses which is the patient's main concern. Along with determining the best clinically accepted position of the ear, the device can be used while taking CBCT which allows for the integration of the clinically approved position with the remaining bone for accurate planning of implant positions.

Skin overgrowth is a complication that hinders bone-anchored prosthetic ear rehabilitation. In order to accurately transfer the healing skin for prosthetic reconstruction, this article introduces a custom-made autopolymerizing acrylic resin auricular cap (button) through indirect pick up of the metal housing. The caps are secured during the healing stage to shape the skin, preventing surgical edema, swelling, and skin overgrowth in patients suffering from keloid reactions from covering the implant abutments.

Statement Of Problem: Computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) milled titanium bars have shown good clinically acceptable passive fit and definitive marginal fit; however, investigations into the passive fit and definitive marginal fit of prefabricated CAD-CAM milled titanium bars are lacking.

Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare and evaluate the passive fit and definitive marginal fit of prefabricated and conventional CAD-CAM milled titanium bars.

Material And Methods: A total of 10 polyurethane radiopaque anatomic completely edentulous mandibular models had implants (Biohorizons) placed in the left and right canine and second premolar positions using a 3-dimensionally printed fully guided surgical guide.

Excessive urban construction is primarily driven by uncontrolled population growth, which has serious consequences for the environment, energy, cost, and human life in general when building materials are massively used. In terms of energy and economic efficiency, buildings that make use of sustainable construction materials and technologies perform better. This is because building in an eco-friendly way results in less waste.

In accordance with WHO statistics, leishmaniasis is one of the top neglected tropical diseases, affecting around 700 000 to one million people per year. To that end, a new series of coumarin-1,2,3-triazole hybrid compounds was designed and synthesized. All new compounds exerted higher activity than miltefosine against L.

Background: Neer type 2 distal clavicular fractures are associated with poor outcomes after nonoperative management. Surgical management is preferred, and various fixation methods have been studied.

Purpose: To assess the clinical and radiological outcomes in patients with unstable distal-end clavicular fractures that were treated with hook plate (HP) or arthroscopically assisted coracoclavicular (AAC) fixation.

A novel optical sensor has been fabricated for highly accurate, simple and selective determination of nanomolar levels of cadmium ions. The sensor depends on the interaction of 6-{4-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)diazenyl)phenyl}-2-oxo-4-phenyl-1,2-dihydropyri-dine-3-carbonitrile (DDPODC) with Cd(II) in plasticized (2-nitrophenyloctyl ether) (o-NPOE) polyvinylchloride (PVC) membrane incorporating chromoionophore V as a lipophilic H-selective indicator. It would seem that the higher Cd(II) concentration, the lower absorbance of chromoionophore V in the membrane at 668 nm, whereas the absorbance at 586 nm increased.

Background: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a degenerative disease distinguished by progressive epithelial secretory gland dysfunction associated with recurrent respiratory tract infections. Despite that bacteria have previously been studied as the main cause of CF airway damage, a strong effect of respiratory viral infections is also now recognized. We aimed to detect the relationship between viral infection and exacerbation in children with cystic fibrosis.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials have opened new avenues for the fabrication of ultrathin, transparent, and flexible functional devices. However, the conventional inorganic graphene analogues are either semiconductors or insulators with low electronic conductivity, hindering their use as supercapacitor electrode materials, which require high conductivity and large surface area. Recently, 2D charge density wave (CDW) materials, such as 2D chalcogenides, have attracted extensive attention as high performance functional nanomaterials in sensors, energy conversion, and spintronic devices.

Article Synopsis
  • Spent coffee grounds (SCGs) are a significant resource for sustainability, containing bioactive compounds that can help combat contamination from toxic fungi and mycotoxins.
  • Eco-friendly extraction methods revealed that SCGs contain phenolic acids and flavonoids with moderate cytotoxic activity against liver cancer cells and strong antibacterial and antifungal properties.
  • The extract demonstrated effectiveness in detoxifying harmful mycotoxins in both liquid and food models, potentially making SCGs a viable option for reducing mycotoxin levels in food products.

String of vanadium (IV), zirconium (IV), palladium (II), platinum (IV) and uranium (VI) chelates of 2-cyano-2-[(2-nitrophenyl)hydrazono]thioacetamide (Cnphta) were prepared and characterized by physicochemical, spectroscopic and thermal analyses. The formulae of the isolated solid complexes were assigned as [VO(Cnphta) (H O)]SO  ⋅ 5H O (1), [ZrO(Cnphta) (H O)]Cl  ⋅ 4H O (2), [Pd(Cnphta) ]Cl (3), [Pt(Cnphta) Cl ]Cl (4) and [UO (Cnphta) ](NO )  ⋅ 5H O (5). The infrared assignments clearly showed that Cnphta ligand coordinated as a bidentate feature through the hydrazono nitrogen and the thioacetamide nitrogen for V(IV), Zr(IV) and U(VI) but displayed different behavior for Pd(II) and Pt(IV).

Is it really better to print everything, including software models, or is it better to view them on screen? With the ever increasing complexity of software systems, software modeling is integral to software development. Software models facilitate and automate many activities during development, such as code and test case generation. However, a core goal of software modeling is to communicate and collaborate.
