The interaction of [NbCp(2)H(3)] with fluorinated alcohols to give dihydrogen-bonded complexes was studied by a combination of IR, NMR and DFT methods. IR spectra were examined in the range from 200-295 K, affording a clear picture of dihydrogen-bond formation when [NbCp(2)H(3)]/HOR(f) mixtures (HOR(f) = hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) or perfluoro-tert-butanol (PFTB)) were quickly cooled to 200 K. Through examination of the OH region, the dihydrogen-bond energetics were determined to be 4.

Novel cobalt phosphonates [Co(H(2)O)(4)(H(4)L)][H(2)L].2H(2)O, 1, and Co(2)(H(2)O)(2)(L), 2, have been synthesized from 1,8-octylenediphosphonic acid (H(4)L). 1 has been fully characterized by X-ray single-crystal data, TGA, IR spectroscopy, and chemical analysis.

The reaction of Cp'(2)TaH(3) (Cp' = C(5)H(4)C(CH(3))(3)) with [MPPh(3)][PF(6)] yields the bimetallic complexes [Cp'(2)TaH(3)MPPh(3)][PF(6)] (M = Au (1),M = Cu (2)). The detailed NMR study of 1 and 2 showed the structure with two bridging hydride ligands. The mutual orientation of the Cp' rings has been determined by NOE experiments.
