Article Synopsis
  • Adequate maternal thyroid function is crucial for a healthy pregnancy, yet previous studies on thyroid dysfunction and pregnancy-related hypertension show inconsistent and varied results.
  • In this systematic review and meta-analysis, researchers analyzed data from multiple cohort studies to investigate the link between thyroid function abnormalities and risks of gestational hypertension and pre-eclampsia.
  • The study included a large sample of 46,528 pregnant women, focusing on thyroid-stimulating hormone, free thyroxine levels, and thyroid antibodies, while excluding certain groups to ensure the accuracy of the findings.

The incorporation of glycemic index (GI) and glycemic load (GL) is a promising way to improve the accuracy of postprandial glycemic response (PPGR) prediction for personalized treatment of gestational diabetes (GDM). Our aim was to assess the prediction accuracy for PPGR prediction models with and without GI data in women with GDM and healthy pregnant women. The GI values were sourced from University of Sydney's database and assigned to a food database used in the mobile app DiaCompanion.

The conformation and the two-dimensional self-assembly of 4'-(3',4″-dihexyloxy-5,2':5',2″:5″,2‴-quaterthien-2,5‴-diyl)-bis(2,2':6',2″-terpyridine) molecules are theoretically and experimentally investigated. This molecular building block forms a hydrogen-bonded chiral supramolecular nanoarchitecture on graphite at the solid/liquid interface. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) shows that the molecule adopts an S-shaped conformation in this structure.

Temperature-controlled reactivity places Bandrowski's base 3 at the crossroads of a new versatile strategy for the preparation of two different categories of chromophores. We describe the access to a new class of quinonediimines (8) with an extended pi-conjugation owing to the presence of imine functions. Under slightly different conditions, Bandrowski's base appears to be the precursor of choice in the preparation of a novel pH- and light-dependent binary molecular switch.
