Following the X-Press Pearl maritime disaster off the coast of Sri Lanka, a stranded spinner dolphin () was recovered, and the cause of death was investigated. Post-mortem examinations revealed evidence of by-catch, but a natural coinfection with dolphin morbillivirus (DMV) and gammaherpesvirus was detected by further analyses, marking the first documented case of a dual viral infection in this species within the region. Molecular diagnostics, including PCR and sequencing, were performed on tissue imprints collected on FTA cards, confirming the presence of DMV in the prescapular lymph node and gammaherpesvirus in the lesions in the oral cavity.

The aim of this study was to determine the association between the severity of dental fluorosis and oral health related quality of life (OHRQoL) among 15-year-old school children residing in an endemic area for dental fluorosis in Sri Lanka.
Design: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 989, 15-year-old school children who were lifetime residents of Kurunegala district.
Purpose: There is a significant disparity in global cancer care and outcome between countries. Progress in the treatment of symptomatic plasma cell myeloma (PCM) in high-income countries is not seen in low- and middle-income countries.
Materials And Methods: This is was a retrospective cohort study of all patients diagnosed with PCM between May 1, 2013, and September 30, 2021, at the first hemato-oncology center in Sri Lanka.
Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) are chronic inflammatory gastrointestinal bowel disorders that may affect any part of the alimentary tract. Classically, these two diseases have hallmark associations, such as UC with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC). We present a case of a healthy 21-year-old white female with concomitant CD and PSC, complicated by a biliary stricture requiring stent placement.

Method: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 15-year-old school children residing in Kurunegala district since birth. One thousand and forty participants from 42 schools were selected using two stage cluster sampling method.
Background: The Covid-19 pandemic has caused significant morbidity and mortality among patients with cancer. Most countries employed measures to prevent spread of Covid-19 infection which include shielding, quarantine, lockdown, travel restrictions, physical distancing and the use of personal protective equipment. This study was carried out to assess the change in patient attendance and the efficacy of newly implemented strategies to mitigate the impact of Covid-19 on services at the Lanka Hospital Blood Cancer Centre (LHBCC) in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Previous attempts at characterizing morphological traits indicative of high uterine volume have not been completely successful, resulting in the continued need for a reliable method of predicting reproductive value to improve production efficiency of the sow. Hence, the main objective of this study was to scrutinize macro- and micro-morphology of the sow's reproductive tract for quantitative correlations with fertility indices.

In both years, Herb-Herb lambs had greater ( < 0.05) growth rates than lambs in other treatments.

Ophthalmologists must consider Cohen syndrome when developmental delay, high-grade myopia, and retinal dystrophy are present in a child. Here we report a case of Cohen syndrome in a 10-year-old boy presenting with cystoid macular edema (CME), only the second reported case of its kind.

The etiology of pancreatic adenocarcinoma is deceptive, and research continues to investigate its molecular patterns. Herein, we present a case of a 74-year-old Caucasian male who presented to the emergency department (ED) with tarry stools and hematochezia in the rectum for two weeks.
