Successful Pregnancies and Deliveries in a Patient With Evolving Hypopituitarism due to Pituitary Stalk Transection Syndrome: Role of Growth Hormone Replacement.

We herein report a 31-year-old Japanese woman with evolving hypopituitarism due to pituitary stalk transection syndrome. She had a history of short stature treated with growth hormone (GH) in childhood and had hypothyroidism and primary amenorrhea at 20 years old. Levothyroxine replacement and recombinant follicle stimulating hormone-human chorionic gonadotropin (FSH-hCG) therapy for ovulation induction were started.

Longitudinal changes of pulmonary function and bronchial responsiveness in cough-variant asthma treated with bronchodilators alone.

Cough due to cough-variant asthma (CVA) responds well to bronchodilators such as beta 2 adrenergic agonists. The aim of this study was to assess longitudinal changes of pulmonary function and bronchial responsiveness in CVA, which was treated with bronchodilators alone. Seventeen CVA patients recorded intensity and frequency of cough every day.

Sinus of Valsalva thrombosis causing renal infarction.

A 72-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with a renal infarction. On admission, computed tomography (CT) of the abdomen revealed total occlusion of the right renal artery, which was found to be recanalized with residual thrombus 7 days later. Transesophageal echocardiography and chest CT demonstrated crescent-shaped thrombus in the non-coronary sinus of Valsalva without evidence of aneurysm.

Central retinal artery occlusion following cardiac catheterization.

We describe a 66-year-old Japanese man in whom central retinal artery occlusion followed cardiac catheterization. After the procedure, blurred vision was noted in the right eye, and ophthalmological examination revealed an occlusion. Central retinal artery occlusion is a very rare but serious complication of cardiac catheterization.
