The aim of this exploratory study was the assessment of the metabolic profiles of persons with complete spinal cord injury (SCI) in three region-of-interests (pons, cerebellar vermis, and cerebellar hemisphere), with magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and their correlations to clinical scores. Group differences and association between metabolic and clinical scores were examined. Fifteen people with chronic SCI (cSCI), five people with subacute SCI (sSCI) and fourteen healthy controls were included.

Besides the sensorimotor cortex, the subcortical areas are strongly involved in motion and executive control. This exploratory study focusses on the cerebellum and vermis.

This raises the question for the relevance of mesoscale patterns near zero-temperature phase transitions, also known as quantum phase transitions. Here we report the magnetic susceptibility of LiHoF-a dipolar Ising ferromagnet-near a well-understood transverse-field quantum critical point (TF-QCP).

Aim: While primary cure rates range from 70-80% following a single treatment using monodirectional approaches, cure rates of combination treatment remain largely unknown.
Methods: In a retrospective case-control study, outcomes following simultaneous bidirectional FMT (bFMT) with combined endoscopic application into the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, compared to standard routes of application (endoscopy via upper or lower gastrointestinal tract and oral capsules; abbreviated UGIT, LGIT and CAP) on day 30 and 90 after FMT were assessed.
Background Context: Acute cervical spinal cord injury (SCI) has been observed in some patients after a minor trauma to the cervical spine. The discrepancy between the severity of the trauma and the clinical symptoms has been attributed to spinal canal stenosis. However, to date, there is no universally established radiological parameter for identifying critical spinal stenosis in these patients.

The latter emphasizes abdominal obesity, atherogenic dyslipidemia, high blood pressure and increased fasting glucose. Without presuming a nosologic entity, the metabolic syndrome is emerging as by far the most important precursor of an epidemic of cardiovascular disease, not only in Western countries.

In-hospital patients consume up to 75% fewer calories than they would need, according to studies in international literature. For German general hospitals data are not yet available on this topic, especially for elderly people.

Background And Objective: Wrong or inadequate nutrition can lead to an increased morbidity and mortality as well as a raised perioperative rate of complications. Endangered patients should be identified quickly, reliably and cost-effectively on admission. This study aimed at developing a 3-step assessment, using a previously evaluated questionnaire.

Patient 2 was also in heart failure. Male family members of both patients were known to have Duchenne's muscular dystrophy, of which one had died.

In isolated coronary resistance vessels, the role of structural and functional changes was evaluated. Furthermore, the effect of long-term antihypertensive therapy was also studied.

The participants were asked to irradiate capsules containing LiF powder to 2 Gy in 5 cm of water. The percentage of the determinations in which the deviation between the institutes quoted dose and the IAEA measured dose was within +/- 5% was 62%.

LiF dosemeters were irradiated under specified conditions in a water phantom at the participating radiotherapy centres and returned to the IAEA's Dosimetry Labotatory for evaluation. The participants filled in a data sheet giving numerical values of physical factors (such as per cent depth dose, tissue-air ratio, etc.
