Background: Genital burns have devastating effects on patient and have been classified by the American Burn Association as major burn injury. The management of these injuries continues to challenge reconstructive surgeons. Cryopreserved skin allografts have been successfully used to manage partial-thickness skin burns; however, dehydrated human amniotic/chorionic membrane (DHACM) represents novel technology.

A sub-committee of the American Burn Association's Committee on the Organization and Delivery of Burn Care was created to revise the adult pain guidelines. A MEDLINE search of English-language publications from 1968 to 2018 was conducted using the keywords "burn pain," "treatment," and "assessment.

Advancements have allowed the development of various skin substitutes. Among these, human dehydrated amniotic skin substitutes represent novel technology, yet their outcome has not been sufficiently studied to guide practice.

Proper management to minimize morbidities challenges reconstructive surgeons. New technologies allowed the development of skin substitutes such as amniotic and chorionic membranes, yet the use of these skin dressings and their impact on burn outcomes have not been sufficiently studied to guide practices.

Human dehydrated amniotic membrane represents novel technology, yet its outcome has not been sufficiently studied to guide practice. The objective of our study is to compare the benefits of amniotic membrane (DHAM) to amniotic/chorionic membrane (DHACM) skin substitutes to treat partial thickness facial burns.

Our institution's Trauma Quality and Improvement Program analysis identified CAUTIs as an outlier complication in our trauma population. This study aimed to determine whether implemented measures would reduce CAUTI rates in trauma population.

TCs with poor documentation may not accurately reflect actual injury burden or comorbidities and can impact accuracy of mortality measures.

Atrial fibrillation can be common in the post-operative period, often a result of fluctuations in volume status and electrolyte derangements. While there is extensive literature regarding the critically ill medical or cardiac patient, there is less focusing on the critically ill surgical or trauma patient.

In addition to the very real historical conflicts associated with slavery in the Americas and various social classification systems elsewhere, such labeling has been shown by the use of ancestral identification markers to be inaccurate in many cases. Even geographic labeling, such as East Asians, ignores the marked heterogeneity of East Asians.

At diagnosis, she had severe anaemia and thrombocytopenia with elevated lactate dehydrogenase and many schistocytes on the peripheral blood smear. She was treated with frequent fresh frozen plasma infusions and plasmapheresis with poor response.

Because of the unknown etiology, treatment is aimed at recovery of function and prevention of the sequelae rather than prevention of the syndrome. This paper aimed to review the theories of the etiology, the features and associated defects, and the operative management of constriction ring syndrome.
