Hydrophobic 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine polymer inhibits peri-implantitis-causing bacterial adhesion on titanium materials.

Aims: To prevent peri-implantitis, we investigated the adhesion of periodontopathogenic bacteria to titanium surfaces using a hydrophobic 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) polymer to inhibit adhesion.

Method And Results: We immersed titanium plates (TiPs) coated with a hydrophobic MPC polymer in a bacterial suspension for 30 min or 24 h and measured the number of adherent bacteria. Bacteria adhering to the TiPs were observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

Copolymerized Polymers Based on Cyclodextrins and Cationic Groups Enhance Therapeutic Effect of Rebamipide in the N-Acetylcysteine-Treated Dry Eye Model.

Purpose: We aimed to prepare a β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) polymer using radical polymerization with co-monomers, 6-deoxy-6-(2-methacryloyloxyethylsuccinamide)-β-cyclodextrin (CD-MSAm) and N,N,N-trimethyl-N-(2-hydroxy-3-metacryloyloxopropyl)-ammonium chloride (QA) to design cyclodextrins suitable for use in ophthalmology. In addition, we evaluated their solubility and inclusion properties with rebamipide (REB), a poorly soluble drug, and investigated the usefulness of the β-CD polymer and REB (REB@CDQA) combination in treating dry eye.

Methods: The β-CD polymer (CD-MSAm-co-QA, CDQA) based on CD-MSAm/QA was prepared via radical polymerization, and the usefulness of REB@CDQA in treating dry eye was evaluated using a rabbit treated with N-acetylcysteine (dry eye model).

MPC Polymer Promotes Recovery from Dry Eye via Stabilization of the Ocular Surface.

The polymer that includes 2-methacryloyloxy ethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) is well-known as an effectively hydrating multifunction agent. In this study, we prepared an MPC polymer (MPCP) using radical polymerization with co-monomers-MPC/Stearyl Methacrylate/,-dimethylacrylamide-and evaluated the MPCP's usefulness for dry eye treatment using a rabbit model treated with -acetylcysteine. The MPCP particle size was 50-250 nm, and the form was similar to that of micelles.
