Purpose: The role of adjuvant chemotherapy in rectal cancer patients downstaged to ypT0-2 N0 after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT), and surgery is still debated. This study investigates the impact of adjuvant chemotherapy on survival outcomes in this patient population.

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed hospital records of rectal cancer cases from Shefa Al Orman Cancer Hospital between January 2016 and December 2020, focusing on patients downstaged to ypT0-2 N0 after neoadjuvant CRT and surgery.

Here, by recording neural activity in two nucleus accumbens (NAc) glutamatergic afferents during aversive and neutral cues, we reveal sex-biased encoding of threat cue discrimination. In male mice, NAc afferents from the ventral hippocampus are preferentially activated by threat cues.

L-Carnitine Ameliorates Amiodarone-Mediated Alveolar Damage: Oxidative Stress Parameters, Inflammatory Markers, Histological and Ultrastructural Insights.

The aim of this study was to assess L-carnitine's effects on adult male rats' lung damage brought on by amiodarone, which is a potent antiarrhythmic with limited clinical efficacy due to potentially life-threatening amiodarone-induced lung damage. Because of the resemblance among the structural abnormalities in rats' lungs that follows amiodarone medication and pulmonary toxicity in human beings, this animal model may be an appropriate example for this disease entity. Amiodarone produced pulmonary toxicity in twenty-four healthy male albino rats (150-180 g) over a period of 6 weeks.

A case report of Paracetamol related pyroglutamic acidosis: mind the gap in a malnourished patient.

Background: Pyroglutamic acidosis is a rare cause of high anion gap metabolic acidosis. Most cases of paracetamol related pyroglutamic acidosis are described in malnourished women and patients with kidney/liver failure, alcohol use or severe sepsis. In this report, we describe how pyroglutamic acidosis could be related to the use of chronic therapeutic paracetamol with only malnutrition as an associated risk factor.
