The aim of this study is to report the results and to review the outcome of 14 cases of Y-T humeral fractures repair using paired polyaxial locking system (PAX) plates through a combined medial and lateral approach. Fourteen consecutive dogs, with traumatic humeral Y-T fractures, met the inclusion criteria. There are approximately 12 000 new individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) each year, and close to 200 000 individuals live with a SCI-related disability in the United States. The majority of patients with SCI have bladder dysfunction as a result of their injury, with over 75% unable to void volitionally following their injury. In patients with traumatic SCI, intermittent catheterization is commonly recommended, but a lack of adherence to clean intermittent catheterization (CIC) has been observed, with up to 50% discontinuing CIC within 5 yr of injury.

This review discusses research developments and applications of isotachophoresis (ITP) to the initiation, control, and acceleration of chemical reactions, emphasizing reactions involving biomolecular reactants such as nucleic acids, proteins, and live cells. ITP is a versatile technique which requires no specific geometric design or material, and is compatible with a wide range of microfluidic and automated platforms. We present a novel microfluidic device for size-based nucleic acid (NA) fractionation using isotachophoresis (ITP) and an ionic spacer. Our rapid-prototyped laser-cut plastic device has easily modifiable channel dimensions, can process up to 10 μL of sample, and contains an in-line extraction reservoir for minimally-disruptive manual collection of size-fractionated NAs. We designed custom buffering reservoirs using 1 mL pipette tips to provide high buffering capacity and prevent bubbles from entering the microfluidic channels.

Objectives: The aim of the study was to describe the differences in pelvic limb alignment between healthy purebred English Bulldogs and those with medial patellar luxation through the measurement of femoral and tibial angles on computed tomography images in multiplanar reconstruction modality (MPR-CT).

Methods: Twenty-one purebred English Bulldogs were included and divided into two groups: one including healthy dogs (15 limbs) and the other including those with medial patellar luxation (24 limbs). Objective: Evaluation of the bending properties in one direction of three titanium polyaxial locking plate systems.

Materials And Methods: The Polyaxial Advanced Locking System (PAX) straight plate (PAX SP), the PAX reconstruction plate (PAX RP), and the VetLOX reconstruction plates (VetLOX) were evaluated individually and as constructs applied to a bone model simulating a fracture gap and compared using a two-way analysis of variance and Tukey post-hoc analysis.

Results: The PAX SP had the highest values of bending stiffness, bending structural stiffness and bending strength.

We present a new approach which enables lysis, extraction, and detection of inactivated Listeria monocytogenes cells from blood using isotachophoresis (ITP) and recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA). We use an ITP-compatible alkaline and proteinase K approach for rapid and effective lysis. We then perform ITP purification to separate bacterial DNA from whole blood contaminants using a microfluidic device that processes 25 μL sample volume.

We present an on-chip electrophoretic assay for rapid protein detection with a SOMAmer (Slow Off-Rate Modified Aptamer) reagent. We used isotachophoresis (ITP) coupled with an ionic spacer to both react and separate SOMAmer-protein complex from free SOMAmer reagent.
