- Epulis fissuratum, a tissue growth caused by poorly fitted dentures, is traditionally treated with scalpels, but this study explores using CO lasers as an alternative in surgery.
- In a clinical trial involving 19 patients, sections of epulis fissuratum were treated with both CO lasers and scalpels to compare outcomes, including surgery time, bleeding, and healing.
- Findings indicated that CO lasers resulted in faster surgery, less bleeding, and greater vestibular depth, although scalpels showed better healing at 7 days; by 14 days, healing was similar, suggesting CO lasers could be a preferred treatment option.
