The increasing population has created two fundamental issues on the islands (in this case, Kish Island): an expansion in waste production and handling and a rise in the need for freshwater for daily consumption. Waste gasification can be used to reduce waste and generate energy. Sea salt water can be converted into drinkable freshwater using energy.

This paper investigates the non-preheated MILD combustion behavior of landfill/ammonia mixtures. The experiments were carried out in a laboratory-scale furnace. The effects of equivalence ratio variation, CO dilution, and ammonia on the furnace temperature distribution and exhaust gas emissions were analyzed attentively.

Standing surface acoustic waves (SSAWs) have been widely utilized in microfluidic devices to manipulate various cells and micro/nano-objects. Despite widespread application, a time-/cost-efficient versatile 3D model that predicts particle behavior in such platforms is still lacking. Herein, a fully-coupled 3D numerical simulation of boundary-driven acoustic streaming in the acoustofluidic devices utilizing SSAWs has been conducted based on the limiting velocity finite element method.
