Leukemia relapse is a major cause of death after allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT). We tested the potential of targeting T cell (Tc) immunoglobulin and mucin-containing molecule 3 (TIM-3) for improving graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effects. We observed differential expression of TIM-3 ligands when hematopoietic stem cells overexpressed certain oncogenic-driver mutations.

Objective: The aim of this case series was to retrospectively assess the impact on volume control and patients' quality of life (QOL) when a night-time garment was added to their previous compression regimen for a full 24-hour interval compression plan.

Method: Patients who had a history of chronic oedema presented to one of two oedema management centres in the US for treatment for oedema exacerbation and/or suboptimal performance of their current garments. Objective data examined were circumferential limb volume (cm) measurements and QOL measured with the Lymphoedema QOL Tool (LYMQOL-Leg and LYMQOL-Arm).

Background: Acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) injuries are common in ice hockey players and are traditionally evaluated with conventional radiography, which has recognized limitations in the accurate characterization of the spectrum of soft tissue injuries and severity/grade of injury sustained.

Purpose: To evaluate the epidemiologic, clinical, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings in professional ice hockey players who have sustained acute ACJ injuries.

Spontaneous rupture of a rare adrenal artery aneurysm mimicking a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Spontaneous adrenal artery aneurysm rupture is an exceedingly rare but life-threatening condition that requires emergent treatment. We report on an 80-year-old male who underwent an emergent exploratory laparotomy and repair of a ruptured adrenal artery aneurysm and highlight the role of both vascular surgery and interventional radiology in the management of this scenario.

This article presents an innovative public-education strategy that was created to promote breast health awareness and early breast cancer detection among minority and low-income adolescent females. Given the importance of teaching breast self-examination (BSE), program development focused on creation of the BSE Rap, a lively music-video presentation. Increasing adolescents' knowledge and awareness of BSE is viewed as a springboard for disseminating information to their mothers and grandmothers.

[Diagnostic value of continuous wave (cw) Doppler sonography in maternal diabetes mellitus].

Doppler studies of umbilical, uterine and arcuate artery velocity wave forms were performed in 40 insulin-dependent diabetic women in the first and second half of pregnancy. Using a continuous-wave Doppler device, the resistance index (RI) was calculated to determine the degree of vascular resistance in utero-placental and foeto-placental compartment. The 90th percentile was used to classify flow velocity profiles.

Intervening with alopecia: exploring an entrepreneurial role for oncology nurses.

This article discusses the development of an innovative role for oncology nurses in assisting patients with their personal information and image needs that arise from alopecia secondary to the treatment of cancer. An independent oncology nursing consultative service was initiated after a survey of patients was conducted (N = 40) to assess alopecia knowledge, needs, and referral source. Nurses (N = 16) attending a local Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) chapter meeting were surveyed to assess their intervention patterns and knowledge of hair and scalp care during hair loss.
