Prior research has established that testosterone is an important modulator of social decision-making. However, evidence on the relationship between basal testosterone levels, commonly measured in saliva or blood, and social behavior has been inconsistent due to methodological shortcomings. Additionally, it has been suggested that cortisol might moderate the association between basal testosterone and social behavior.

Background: International Dermatology Outcome Measures (IDEOM) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the availability of evidence-based, consensus-driven outcome measures for dermatological diseases. IDEOM facilitates collaboration between stakeholders from various backgrounds, including researchers, patients, physicians, and industry representatives, to develop objective benchmark metrics that enable better treatment and management of dermatologic conditions.

Large Language Models and the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) Practice Questions.

Objective: This study aims to test the accuracy of large language models (LLMs) in answering standardized pharmacy examination practice questions.

Methods: The performance of 3 LLMs (generative pretrained transformer [GPT]-3.5, GPT-4, and Chatsonic) was evaluated on 2 independent North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination practice question sets sourced from McGraw Hill and RxPrep.

The influence of adolescents' self-perception of social relationships on personality functioning in the context of inclusive education.

Introduction: Adolescence is a special phase of life in which fundamentals of psychosocial functioning are formed. The present study investigates how adolescents' self-perception of social relationships in inclusive classes affect personality functioning. Furthermore, we examine whether the association between self-perceived social relationships and personality functioning is stronger for students with special educational needs in the domains of learning (SEN L) and social -emotional development (SED) than for students without SEN.

Substance Use-Related Alterations of Social Decision Making in a Longitudinal Cohort of Young Adults.

Background: Substance use disorders are associated with severe negative social and health-related outcomes. Evidence has accumulated that long-term substance use is associated with alterations in social interaction behavior, which likely contributes to the vicious cycle of substance use disorder. However, little is known about whether these social problems originate from contextual factors only or also from the substance use itself-in other words, if they are predisposed or substance induced.

Associations Between Physical Characteristics and Golf Clubhead Speed: A Systematic Review with Meta-Analysis.

Background: Historically, golf does not have a strong tradition of fitness testing and physical training. However, in recent years, both players and practitioners have started to recognise the value of a fitter and healthier body, owing to its potential positive impacts on performance, namely clubhead speed (CHS).

Objective: The aim of this meta-analysis was to examine the associations between CHS (as measured using a driver) and a variety of physical characteristics.

Levels of procoagulant factors and peak thrombin generation in relation to dementia risk in older adults: The Cardiovascular Health Study.

Introduction: Markers of hemostasis such as procoagulant factors and peak thrombin generation are associated with cardiovascular outcomes, but their associations with dementia risk are unclear. We aimed to evaluate prospective associations of selected procoagulant factors and peak thrombin generation with dementia risk.

Methods: We measured levels of 7 hemostatic factors (fibrinogen, factor VII coagulant activity [FVIIc], activated factor VII [FVIIa], factor VIIa-antithrombin [FVIIa-AT], factor XI antigen [FXI], peak thrombin generation, and platelet count) among participants in the Cardiovascular Health Study, a cohort of older adults free of dementia in 1992/1993 (n = 3185).

Severity and death.

This article discusses the relationship between two theories about the badness of death, the Life-Comparative Account and the Gradualist Account, and two methods of operationalizing severity in health care priority setting, Absolute Shortfall and Proportional Shortfall. The aim is that theories about the badness of death can influence and inform the idea of the basis of severity as a priority setting criterion. I argue that there are strong similarities between the Life-Comparative Account and Absolute Shortfall, and since the Life-Comparative Account is one of the most reasonable accounts of the badness of death, this provides some support for using Absolute Shortfall.

Trackman 4: Within and between-session reliability and inter-relationships of launch monitor metrics during indoor testing in high-level golfers.

Catamenial epilepsy occurrence and patterns in a mixed population of women with epilepsy.

We evaluated the occurrence and distribution of patterns of catamenial epilepsy in a heterogenous cohort of women with epilepsy on no hormonal therapies, enrolled in a prospective, observational study. The primary aim of the study was pregnancy rate in women with epilepsy with no prior reproductive problems. In this analysis, we included women who recorded one or more menstrual cycles with one or more seizures.

Polypharmacy in US Medicare beneficiaries with antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody vasculitis.

Treatment requirements of antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody vasculitis (AV) and high comorbidity burden among patients with AV may lead to higher potential for polypharmacy and its associated adverse outcomes, including adverse drug events, nonadherence, drug-drug interactions, and higher costs. Medication burden and risk factors associated with polypharmacy in patients with AV have not been well-characterized. To characterize medication burden and examine prevalence of and risk factors for polypharmacy in the first year after diagnosis with AV.

Anxiety and visceral sensitivity relate to gastrointestinal symptoms in runners but not pre- or during-event nutrition intake.

Background: Previous research has shown anxiety to relate to gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms in endurance athletes, but it remains unclear whether competition-related fueling is impacted by anxiety. This study examined whether general anxiety, pre-race anxiety, and visceral sensitivity were associated with nutritional intake before and during endurance running races.

Methods: A total of 149 (86 female, 63 male) runners participated in this cross-sectional survey study.

German physicians' expectations of healthcare management companies: An exploratory study.

Background And Aims: Even 20 years after the introduction of managed care (MC) in Germany, many physicians are skeptical of the concept, hindering its acceptance.

Methods: Based on multivariate statistical methods this exploratory study examines how so-called management companies, that is, administrative service providers within MC contracts, can increase physicians' acceptance of MC by offering, for example, day-to-day coordination and administrative tasks.

Results: As a main empirical result, we find support for this hypothesis, that is, that certain physicians evaluate their MC participation according to its prospective administrative support.

Does pain sensitivity correlate with gastrointestinal symptoms in runners? An observational survey study.

Objective: Heightened pain sensitivity is common in functional gut disorders, but no research has examined whether it corresponds to exercise-associated gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms. We sought to explore whether scores on a questionnaire of pain sensitivity would correlate with GI symptoms during running.

Design: This is a cross-sectional study.

Variations in Seizure Frequency During Pregnancy and Postpartum by Epilepsy Type.

Background And Objectives: To assess whether increased seizure frequency during pregnancy and postpartum is influenced by epilepsy type, seizure location, and antiseizure medications.

Methods: Clinical data were collected in a longitudinal prospective database of pregnant women with epilepsy at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Within each individual participant, baseline seizure frequency was calculated for the 9 months before conception, and whether seizure frequency increased during pregnancy or the postpartum period was determined.

The effects of health shocks on family status: do financial incentives encourage marriage?

This paper asks whether marriage decisions of unmarried mature couples are driven by the prospect of financial advantages for the later widowed after one partner has suffered a serious health shock. We hypothesize that, in contrast to traditional marriage models, such health shocks may induce unmarried couples to obtain economic benefits, such as survivors' pensions in particular, through marriage in advance of one partner's death. This question has not yet been studied empirically.

Tapping into the interplay of lexical and number knowledge using fast mapping: A longitudinal eye-tracking study with two-year-olds.

Language skills and mathematical competencies are argued to influence each other during development. While a relation between the development of vocabulary size and mathematical skills is already documented in the literature, this study further examines how children's ability to map a novel word to an unknown object as well as their ability to retain this word from memory may be related to their knowledge of number words. Twenty-five children were tested longitudinally (at 30 and at 36 months of age) using an eye-tracking-based fast mapping task, the Give-a-Number task, and standardized measures of vocabulary.
