Structure formation during solidification of a Pd-Ni-Cu-P melt is studied. It is demonstrated that changes in the heat transfer conditions lead to a nonlinear change in the characteristics of the structure. The article presents the regimes of cooling the samples and the results of their structure and composition studies.

A new 1:1 cocrystal (L-Asc-Pic) of L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C) with picolinic acid was prepared as a powder and as single crystals. The crystal structure was solved and refined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) data collected at 293 (2) and 100 (2) K. The samples of the L-Asc-Pic cocrystal were characterized by elemental (HCNS) analysis and titrimetric methods, TG/DTG/DSC, and IR and Raman spectroscopy.

The development and introduction into clinical practice of non-pharmacological methods for the prevention and treatment of arterial hypertension is a primary objective of modern physical therapy, especially as regards the neurotropic influences. This article was designed to report the results of the investigation into the hypotensive effect of transcerebral magnetic therapy obtained during the treatment of 60 patients presenting with arterial hypertension. The study included the comparative examination of two randomly formed groups containing 30 patients each.

Mitral valve prolapse (in 132 examinees) appeared to be associated with reliably lower levels of reticulocytes, leucocytes, lymphocytes CD4+, immunoglobulines G, magnesium, and higher cortisol level, in comparison with the sportsmen having no mitral valve prolapse. The athletes with mitral valve prolapse demonstrated more frequent changes in ECG, reliably lower performance in treadmill test, slower recovery of heart rate after exertion is over.

Implementation of therapeutic teaching into treatment of chronic cardiac failure patients resulted in less number of patients with III-functional grade, better tolerance to physical exertion, more awareness, greater number of patients with self-control skills and adherence to recommended treatment, better life quality of the patients.

Comprehensive social and hygienic survey of 209 patients with mandible fracture was conducted. Their social features were: young adults, predominantly male, ethnicity mainly yakuts, temporarily unemployed, with secondary and post-secondary education and health behavior problems. The majority of jaw injuries were caused by household (26.

Examinations covered 49 individuals exposed to local vibration at work, who underwent health programs including magnetotherapy, manual massage and exercise therapy. The authors conclude that maximal effect of improved life quality was seen after panto-magnesium gas baths course auxiliary to the programs.

Varying particle composition caused regular changes in the shell thickness from 1 to 2 nm (monomolecular layer) up to 90 nm. Far- and mid-IR spectroscopy allowed us to register hydrogen bonding and, tentatively, Lewis/Brønsted (LB) interfacial interactions as well as changes in the dynamics and conformational state of the polymer chains as a function of the nanoshell thickness.

Unlike the situation in adult animals, convulsive activity did not develop in rat pups in response to repeated injections. Comparison of the amplitude characteristics of total monosynaptic responses of neurons in hippocampal field CA1 to application of single and paired (separated by 70 msec) stimulation of Schäffer collaterals during the period of maximally intense hippocampal synaptogenesis (at weeks 2-3 of postnatal development) revealed no significant differences between the control group (administration of isotonic saline) and the group given PTZ.

The effect of repeated pentylentetrazole (PTZ) administration on the postnatal development of hippocampal electrophysiological indices has been studied. Contrary to adult rats, repeated PTZ injections did not intensify convulsive activity in rat pups (from postnatal day 14). We did not observe any between-group differences in population spike amplitudes and paired pulse facilitation (PPF) ratio at 70 ms interpulse interval during early period of postnatal development, PPF suppression at short interlulse interval (15 ms) only was significantly less in PTZ group as compared with saline-injected controls, but the effect of saline injections has developed in the same directio However PTZ resulted in the modification of developmental profile.

Cyclic adenosine-3'5'-monophosphate (cAMP) levels in structures of the "informational" and "motivational" systems of the brain were measured during acquisition of a conditioned two-sided active avoidance reflex in rats. cAMP levels were measured in three groups of animals--intact animals, trained animals, and an active control group (given uncombined presentations of the conditioned (light) and unconditioned (electric shock) stimuli)--immediately after reproduction of the acquired reflex. Significant accumulation of cAMP levels in brain structures was seen in animals of the active control group in the hypothalamus and in trained animals in the left and right hippocampus and the right frontal cortex.

Three groups of animals were examined: naive rats, trained (conditioned) rats, and group of the active control presented with uncombined conditioned (light) and unconditioned (electric footshock) stimuli. The content of cAMP was determined in the frontal cortex, hippocampus, amygdala, and hypothalamus of both hemispheres immediately after the retrieval of conditioned reaction one day after conditioning.

The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficiency of laser therapy included into the treatment of pneumonia in the elderly. A follow-up included the analysis of their clinical status and external respiratory function, pulmonary blood flow, and immunological parameters in 2 matched groups of pneumonia patients aged 60 to 72 years. Low-intensity laser therapy (transcutaneous sliding contact procedure) was used as part of routine treatment in one of the groups.

When the rat spinal motor centre was activated by fixing the animal in a supine posture, the motor units of intact gastrocnemius muscle fired more frequently in the high-frequency range. Under conditions of the ischiatic nerve blockade, a shift to an increase in the background firing frequency of the motor units related to intact gastrocnemius muscle seems to be related to increased motoneurone excitability occurring because of the contralateral denervation.
