The widespread use of chlorine pre-oxidation in water purification has been limited in several countries owing to the production of carcinogenic byproducts when combined with naturally occurring organic matter. This study investigates the efficient use of potassium permanganate (KMnO) pretreatment and coagulation enhancement as particle size and molecular weight distribution controlling parameters. KMnO pretreatment significantly reduced the apparent molecular weight of humic acid due to KMnO reduction and the continuous generation of manganese dioxide (MnO) formed in situ under neutral and alkaline conditions.

There is increasing concern about the health effects on humans due to continuous consumption of fruit juices contaminated with metals. Quadrupole inductively coupled mass spectrometry (Q-ICP-MS) was optimized, validated, and applied in routine analysis for determination of As, Pb, Cd, Sb, Hg, Cu, Zn, Fe, Al, Cr, Sn, Co, Mn, and Ni in fruit juice beverages. Several validation parameters, such as detection limits (DLs), quantification limits, linearity, accuracy, and measurement uncertainty (MU), were studied under optimized Q-ICP-MS conditions.

Purpose: Thermal analysis techniques have been used to study the thermal behavior of dapoxetine and vardenafil hydrochlorides and confirmed using semi-empirical molecular orbital calculations.

Methods: Thermogravimetric analysis, derivative thermogravimetry, differential thermal analysis and differential scanning calorimetry were used to determine the thermal behavior and purity of the drugs under investigation. Thermodynamic parameters such as activation energy, enthalpy, entropy and Gibbs free energy were calculated.

A gas chromatography equipped with mass spectrometer (GCMS) method was developed and validated for determination of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in fish using modified quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) method for extraction and solid phase extraction for sample cleanup to remove most of the coextract combined with GCMS for determination of low concentration of selected group of PAHs in homogenized fish samples. PAHs were separated on a GCMS with HP-5ms Ultra Inert GC Column (30 m, 0.25 mm, and 0.

Advanced oxidation processes including UV, UV/H(2)O(2), Fenton reaction (Fe(II)/H(2)O(2)) and photo-Fenton process (Fe(II)/H(2)O(2)/UV) for the treatment of paper mill wastewater will be investigated. A comparison among these techniques is undertaken with respect to the decrease of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and total suspended solids (TSS) and the evolution of chloride ions. Optimum operating conditions for each process under study revealed the effect of the initial amounts of Fe(II) and hydrogen peroxide.
