Introduction: The prevalence of intracranial aneurysms (IA) in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) requiring mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is unclear.

Objective: To describe the prevalence of IA in patients with AIS and their influence on MT.

Materials & Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study on all patients admitted with a diagnosis of AIS from January 2008 to March 2022 at a tertiary academic center.

Impact of concomitant coronary artery bypass grafting on postoperative outcomes in patients undergoing pericardiectomy: A 33-year experience.

Objective: Concomitant coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and pericardiectomy (PC) can be a technically challenging operation. We sought to study the outcomes of patients undergoing concomitant PC and CABG.

Methods: Between July 1983 and August 2016, 70 patients (median age, 67 years; 88% males) underwent concomitant PC and CABG (PC + CABG group).

Prevalence and influence of pulmonary hypertension in patients with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy undergoing septal myectomy.

Objectives: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is an independent predictor of all-cause mortality among patients with obstructive and nonobstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). However, there is little information on the influence of coexisting PH on long-term survival following septal myectomy. This study investigates the prevalence of PH among patients with obstructive HCM undergoing septal myectomy and analyzes patient survival and the course of PH after operation.

Optimal Management of Mitral Regurgitation Due to Ruptured Mitral Chordae Tendineae in Patients With Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.

There is continued controversy regarding surgical management of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and intrinsic mitral valve disease; some clinicians favor prosthetic replacement as this corrects left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction and valve leakage. In this study, we investigated the management and late outcome of operation for mitral regurgitation (MR) due to ruptured chordae tendineae in patients with HCM. We analyzed 49 consecutive patients with HCM and MR due to ruptured mitral valve chordae.
