Myrrh has unique medicinal properties: it is an anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antibacterial material. The aim of this study was to assess the influence of ethanolic myrrh extract on the production and properties of modified PP and PLA melt spun yarns. In this work, multifilament yarns of polylactide (PLA) and polypropylene (PP) containing 10 wt% myrrh resin at different melt-spinning drawing ratios (DRs) were prepared.

High-quality recycling of photovoltaic (PV) modules starts with a delamination process. It aims to remove the encapsulation layer between glass and solar cells. Many studies have investigated the delamination of ethylene-vinyl acetate encapsulant, whereas the delamination of polyolefin elastomer (POE) encapsulation in solar modules remains a research gap.

The most prominent and widely used electrical energy storage devices are lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), which in recent years have become costly and deficient. Consequently, new energy storage devices must be introduced into the current market. Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) are starting to emerge as a promising solution because of sodium's abundance and low cost.

Silicone-based polymer composites containing high atomic number additives are prioritized for the development of new materials for radiation shielding, due to their mechanical, thermal, electrical, and multifunctional properties. The X-ray attenuation properties, as well as mechanical properties, of the newly developed-lead-free multi-layered structures for radiation shielding, based on silicone composite layers containing tin, cerium oxide, tungsten oxide, and bismuth additives, are analyzed and discussed in this paper. It is shown that, by varying the additive concentrations in silicone composites, lead-free and flexible layered structures, exhibiting lead-equivalent X-ray shielding, can be fabricated.

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) biosynthesized using plant extracts as reducing and capping agents show multiple possibilities for solving various biological problems. The aim of this study was to expand the boundaries of AgNPs using a novel low toxicity and production cost phytochemical method for the biosynthesis of nanoparticles from and aqueous leaf extracts. Biosynthesized AgNPs were characterized by various methods (ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-vis), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy with horizontal attenuated total reflectance (HART), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS)).

One method for adding enhancing properties to textile materials is the insertion of natural ingredients into the textile products during the manufacturing or finishing process. The aim of this research is to investigate the formation of biodegradable melt-spun multifilament Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) yarns with different contents (i.e.

One of the possible ways of mitigating the primary lead-acid battery downside-mass- is to replace the heavy lead grids that can add up to half of the total electrode's mass. The grids can be exchanged for a lightweight, chemically inert, and conductive material such as graphite felt. To reduce carbon surface area, Pb/PbO can be electrochemically deposited on graphite felt.

A possible approach for providing new properties for textiles is the insertion of natural ingredients into the textile product during the process of its manufacture. Myrrh has long been used in medicine as an antibacterial and antifungal material. Polylactide (PLA) is a thermoplastic synthetic biopolymer obtained from renewable resources-and due its biodegradability, is also widely used in medicine.

The most effective means to protect against bacterial invasion and to reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections are antibacterial components synthesis. In this study, a novel process for the synthesis of organic-inorganic hybrid coatings containing silver nanoparticles is presented. Silver nanoparticles and polymer formation proceeds simultaneously through the in situ photoreduction of silver salt to silver nanoparticles and UV-crosslinking of bifunctional aliphatic silicone acrylate.

Evaluation of the new lead-free optically transparent nanocomposites is provided in this paper along with the introduction to their fabrication technologies and the results of investigation of their X-ray attenuating and optical properties before and after their exposure to high doses. These materials might be considered for the construction of X-ray protective screens that are used to protect medical personnel against scattered X rays during close-to patient operations. Rough selection of possible composites was performed according to X-ray attenuation modelling results.

In this work, we report a combined experimental and theoretical study on molecular structure, vibrational and electronic spectra of [Hg(SCN)n](2-)(n) complexes (where n=2, 3, 4) in the aqueous solution. Molecular modeling of the mercury(II) complexes were done by the density functional theory (DFT) method using B3LYP functional with Stuttgart relativistic ECP 78MWB basis set for Hg and 6-311++G(d,p) basis set for all other atoms. The effect of different solvation models with explicit (ligand) and/or implicit water environment upon its geometry, vibrational frequencies and UV spectrum have been studied.
