Exercise stimulates the release of molecules into the circulation, supporting the concept that inter-tissue signaling proteins are important mediators of adaptations to exercise. Recognizing that many circulating proteins are packaged in extracellular vesicles (EVs), we employed quantitative proteomic techniques to characterize the exercise-induced secretion of EV-contained proteins. Following a 1-hr bout of cycling exercise in healthy humans, we observed an increase in the circulation of over 300 proteins, with a notable enrichment of several classes of proteins that compose exosomes and small vesicles.

Background: Reductions in physical activity (PA) are common throughout young adulthood and low PA is associated with weight gain. The SNAP Trial previously reported that two self-regulation approaches to weight gain prevention reduced weight gain over a 2-year period in 18-35 year olds. Presented here are secondary analyses examining changes in PA and the relationship between PA and weight change over 2 years.

Benign and malignant proliferations of histiocytes and dendritic cells may be encountered in lymph nodes. Reactive histiocytic and dendritic cell infiltrates occur in response to diverse stimuli and in addition to causing lymphadenopathy, may be present unexpectedly in lymph nodes excised for other indications. This review summarizes the pathogenesis and histopathological features of the various non-neoplastic histiocytic and dendritic cell infiltrates that can occur in lymph nodes.

Purpose: Macular telangiectasia Type 2 (MacTel) causes glial and photoreceptor cell death in a small, oval patch in the central retina. Beyond this oval area, no disease manifestations have been described so far. Here, we describe a novel pathological aspect of MacTel in the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) that is not restricted to the clinically affected area but covers the entire retina.

Treatment with BRAF inhibitors may lead to paradoxical mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway activation and accelerated tumorigenesis in cells with preexisting oncogenic hits. This phenomenon manifests clinically in the development of squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) and keratoacanthomas (KAs) in patients treated with BRAF inhibitors. Cases of extracutaneous malignancies associated with BRAF inhibitors have also been reported.
