Vegetable crops of the Brassicaceae family have the ability to include the necessary trace element selenium (Se) in the composition of organic compounds such as selenoproteins, in addition, they have important properties for human health based on the content of selenium. In our work, we investigated the effect of non-root processing of vegetating radish plants on the quality of finished products. The research results showed that the selenium content in the product part of plants significantly increased with an increase in the concentration of this element in the working solution.

Electrochemical behavior of novel electrode materials based on polydiphenylamine-2-carboxylic acid (PDPAC) binary and ternary nanocomposite coatings was studied for the first time. Nanocomposite materials were obtained in acidic or alkaline media using oxidative polymerization of diphenylamine-2-carboxylic acid (DPAC) in the presence of activated IR-pyrolyzed polyacrylonitrile (IR-PAN-a) only or IR-PAN-a and single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT). Hybrid electrodes are electroactive layers of stable suspensions of IR-PAN-a/PDPAC and IR-PAN-a/SWCNT/PDPAC nanocomposites in formic acid (FA) formed on the flexible strips of anodized graphite foil (AGF).

The electrochemical behavior of new electrode materials based on poly-N-phenylanthranilic acid (P-N-PAA) composites with reduced graphene oxide (RGO) was studied for the first time. Two methods of obtaining RGO/P-N-PAA composites were suggested. Hybrid materials were synthesized via in situ oxidative polymerization of N-phenylanthranilic acid (N-PAA) in the presence of graphene oxide (GO) (RGO/P-N-PAA-1), as well as from a P-N-PAA solution in DMF containing GO (RGO/P-N-PAA-2).

Here we demonstrate the generation of novel ionic liquid analogue (ILA) electrolytes for aluminium (Al) electrodeposition that are based on salts of amidine Lewis bases. The electrolytes exhibit reversible voltammetric plating/stripping of Al, good ionic conductivities (10-14 mS cm), and relatively low viscosities (50-80 cP). The rheological properties are an improvement on analogous amide-based ILAs and make these liquids credible alternatives to ILAs based on urea or acetamide, or conventional chloroaluminate ionic liquids (IL) for Al battery applications.

We demonstrate, both theoretically and experimentally, a pseudo-random, two-dimensional optical phased array (OPA) concept based on tandem injection locking of 64-element vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) arrays. A low cavity-Q VCSEL design resulted in an injection locking optical power of less than 1 μW per VCSEL, providing large OPA scaling potential. Tandem injection locking of two VCSEL arrays resulted in measured controllable optical phase change of 0-1.

Today in Russian Federation, we observe significant growth of the chronic pancreatitis incidence with the depression of its therapy efficiency (more than 20% of the patients) and complications rate growth. In many respects given tendency is associated with the inefficiency of traditional medications combination in the context of inflammation process reduction, gut dysbiosis correction and chronic inflammation reaction depression. Present-day studies indicates, that the grade and character of inflammation in the pancreas depends on the pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines balance, which is associated with the elevation of the pathogenic microbiota concentration and permeability of the gut.

Photosensitive silicate glasses doped with silver, cerium, fluorine, and bromine were fabricated at the Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers. Bragg diffractive gratings were recorded in the volume of these glasses with a photothermorefractive process (exposure to UV radiation of a He-Cd laser at 325 nm is followed by thermal development at 520 degrees C). Absolute diffraction efficiency of as much as 93% was observed for 1-mm-thick gratings with spatial frequencies up to 2500 mm(-1).

Article Synopsis
  • Holographic UV mirrors were created using a special type of glass that can change its properties when exposed to light, specifically photothermorefractive glass containing silver, cerium, and fluorine.
  • The glass is transparent across various wavelengths, including near-UV and visible light, and it can change its refractive index significantly when treated with UV radiation from a laser.
  • The resulting mirrors achieved a diffraction efficiency of 12.6% without losing performance when exposed to prolonged optical irradiation or high temperatures (up to 400 degrees Celsius).

We developed a new method for the analysis of active antioxidants that is based on their reactions with the ABTS+. cation radical obtained by oxidation of ABTS, 2,2'-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt. The feasibility of this method was confirmed by electrochemical and kinetic studies of model antioxidants.

A liquid-cell shearing interferometer was developed to measure refractive-index variations (delta n) in transparent materials. The cell was filled with a liquid having a matched refractive index. The achieved resolution was better than 1/1000 of a fringe shift and resulted in a delta n measurement sensitivity down to 10(-7) for 1-mm-thick samples.

Prealbumin, albumin, alpha 1-antitrypsin, alpha 1-antichymotrypsin, ceruloplasmin, haptoglobin, transferrin, IgG, IgM and IgA were studied in blood serum of healthy donors and of patients with chronic alcoholism by means of cross immuno-electrophoresis and immunodiffusion. Only content of alpha 1-antitrypsin was distinctly altered in blood serum of the patients with alcoholism as compared with normal state, while individual variations in content of the proteins studied were considerably higher in blood serum of the patients. At the same time, distinct dissimilarity of the patterns studied was found between healthy donors and patients with chronic alcoholism when concentration ratios of some positively and negatively charged acute phase proteins were calculated (alpha 1-antitrypsin/albumin, haptoglobin/albumin, haptoglobin/transferrin).
