Background: The 2022 mpox outbreak in the United States disproportionately affected gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM). Uptake of mpox testing may be related to symptomology, sociodemographic characteristics, and behavioral characteristics.

Objective: This study aimed to describe suspected mpox symptoms and testing uptake among a sample of GBMSM recruited via the internet in the United States in August 2022.

Methods: The authors conducted a study using the American Men's Internet Survey, which includes 823 cisgender (defined as their gender identity matching their sex assigned at birth) males aged ≥15 years from August 5 to 15, 2022.

Scurvy in a Pediatric Patient Unable to Bear Weight: A Case Report.

Pediatric scurvy is uncommon in the twenty-first century but cases have been reported in children with neurodevelopmental issues and restricted diets. We are reporting a two-year and nine-month-old boy who had a coronavirus disease (COVID) infection and then presented with a refusal to walk. By careful history-taking, he was found to have a restricted diet, speech delay, and gum bleeding suggestive of scurvy, which was confirmed by extremely low levels of ascorbic acid.

RANGE EXPANSION OF GREEN TREEFROGS (HYLA CINEREA) IN SOUTHERN ILLINOIS: NO EVIDENCE OF PARASITE RELEASE.

For several decades, green treefrogs (Hyla cinerea) have been undergoing rapid range expansion northward and eastward in Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky. While range expansion of green treefrogs in these states may be linked to climate change, a recent study suggested this expansion could be facilitated by parasites, given that expanded range populations of green treefrogs from Kentucky and Indiana exhibited significant decreases in helminth species diversity compared to those examined from historical locations of Kentucky. Because rapid range expansion may lead to hosts escaping their parasites (= parasite release), a reprieve from parasitic infection could allocate additional resources to growth and reproduction and thus facilitate the expansion.

Chemsex is the intentional use of drugs to enhance sexual activity. Chemsex drug use among men who have sex with men (MSM) is associated with sexual behaviors that increase sexually transmitted infection (STI) risks and adverse mental health outcomes. However, published data are largely based on MSM recruited from STI clinics.

Willingness to Participate in and Preferences for Studies of mHealth HIV Prevention Interventions: Cross-Sectional Study Among Sexual and Gender Minority Groups in the Southern United States.

A number of mobile HIV prevention interventions have been developed to increase uptake of HIV prevention services such as HIV testing and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Most of these interventions have been tested among urban populations. However, sexual and gender minority (SGM) groups in rural areas might also benefit from mobile HIV prevention interventions.

Introduction: Sexual and gender minority (SGM) communities, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and Two-Spirit people, have historically been researched from a deficits-based approach that fails to highlight the ways communities survive and thrive in the face of adversity. This study endeavored to create a model of resources that promote SGM resilience using a sample that amplified traditionally underrepresented perspectives, including individuals from racial and/or ethnic minority groups, trans and/or gender diverse individuals, individuals on the asexual spectrum, and older adults.

Methods: Participant responses to three open-ended questions from The PRIDE Study's (an online national longitudinal cohort study of SGM people) 2018 Annual Questionnaire were analyzed using constructivist grounded theory.

Despite the benefits of assistive technology (AT), barriers to technology adoption still exist and are uniquely affecting older populations. Improving technology adoption can be achieved by involving end-users in the development and evaluation process. However, existing AT evaluation tools rarely take into account older adults' experiences.

Interest in HIV Prevention Mobile Phone Apps: Focus Group Study With Sexual and Gender Minority Persons Living in the Rural Southern United States.

Background: Mobile health (mHealth) interventions, including smartphone apps, have been found to be an effective means of increasing the uptake of HIV prevention tools, including HIV and sexually transmitted infection (STI) tests and pre-exposure prophylaxis. However, most HIV prevention mHealth apps tested in the United States have been tested among populations living in areas surrounding urban centers. Owing to reduced access to broadband internet and reliable cellular data services, it remains unclear how accessible and effective these interventions will be in rural areas.
