Importance of trace elements in the immunometabolic health of people living with HIV/AIDS: a literature review.

Trace elements (TEs) are essential for human health and for maintaining immune responses against potentially aggressive pathogens, such as the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). During the infectious process, the body needs greater amounts of TEs in order to coordinate an efficient immune response to combat the invading agent, a condition that reflects in lymphocyte proliferation and activation of the antioxidant defense system of neutrophils and macrophages. Thus, during the progression phase of a viral infection, immunomodulation of TEs such as iron, zinc, chromium, magnesium, selenium, copper, calcium, and manganese occurs, can lead to immunosuppression and increased oxidative stress.

Technologies for Studying and Teaching Human Anatomy: Implications in Academic Education.

The teaching of human anatomy (HA) constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of the curriculum in biological and healthcare-related programs. Therefore, it is imperative that the methodology and didactics employed in this discipline equip students in the best possible way. Handgrip Strength and Clinical Evolution of People Living with HIV: A Mini Narrative Review.

HIV infection is a worldwide epidemic. Antiretroviral therapy allows people living with HIV (PLHIV) increased longevity and a better quality of life. Among the various ways of monitoring the clinical evolution of PLHIV, handgrip strength (HGS) is a promising strategy, as this test can be used to assess the health condition quickly and at a low cost.

Unlabelled: Photobiomodulation (PBM) has ergogenic effects on aerobic and anaerobic efforts and may improve sports performance. As Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) fighting requires both aerobic and anaerobic metabolism, so PBM may be effective in increasing the physical performance of BJJ athletes. Thus, this study aimed to verify the effects of PBM with different energy doses (6 or 12 J per point) on high-intensity intermittent anaerobic performance in BJJ athletes.

The immunosuppressive effect has mainly been investigated through oral exposure; however, birds may also be contaminated through skin absorption. The present study investigated the influence of OTA exposure on the defense system of broiler chicks through the subcutaneous route and including low doses.

The mycotoxin, ochratoxin-A (OTA), produced by some fungi, and is a natural contaminant of many foods and animal feeds worldwide.
