Neuropsychological data suggest that being overweight or obese is associated with a tendency to perseverate behavior despite negative feedback. This deficit might be observed due to other cognitive factors, such as working memory (WM) deficits or decreased ability to deduce model-based strategies when learning by trial-and-error. In the present study, a group of subjects with overweight or obesity (Ow/Ob, n = 30) was compared to normal-weight individuals (n = 42) in a modified Reinforcement Learning (RL) task.

Food safety is recognized as a main requirement for consumers, food industries, and official laboratories. Here, we present the optimization and screening qualitative validation of two multianalyte methods in bovine muscle tissues by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to high-resolution mass spectrometry with an Orbitrap-type analyzer, operated with a heated ionization source in positive and negative mode. This aims for not only the simultaneous detection of veterinary drugs regulated in Brazil but also the prospection of antimicrobials not yet monitored.

However, an online assessment might become a challenge when long and complex experiments need to be conducted in a specific order or with supervision from a researcher. The aim of this study was to test the computational validity and the feasibility of a remote and synchronous reinforcement learning (RL) experiment conducted during the social-distancing measures imposed by the pandemic.

Although segmental resection is a therapeutic option that provides positive outcomes in the management of symptoms, its functional effects are still unproven.
Aim: Assess the late impact of the laparoscopic approach in treating deep infiltrating endometriosis with segmental colorectal resection.
The performance of the high-field MegaOrbitrap Fourier transform mass spectrometer (FT-MS) with electrospray ionization (ESI) was evaluated to perform petroleum sample characterization classical petroleomics approaches. Pertinent parameters that underpin the main figures of merit, that is, signal to noise ratios, dynamic range, spectral error, scan speed, mass accuracy and mass resolving power = , and provide subsidies to develop these analyzers were tested. Comparisons are made with data obtained using the most common petroleomics instrument, which is a Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometer (FT-ICR MS), that has been used in the last decade in our laboratory for crude oil analysis providing of 340 000 at / 400 with transients of 3 s duration, and has been extensively demonstrated to fulfill all major requirements for precise petroleomics investigations.

Easy ambient sonic spray ionization mass spectrometry (EASI-MS) was used since it allows fast and simple analysis with no sample preparation providing molecular screening of the surface with direct desorption and ionization of the security dye. For a more accurate molecular characterization of the ATD dye, Q Exactive Orbitrap™ Fourier transform (tandem) mass spectrometry using eletrospray ionization (ESI-HRMS/MS) was also applied.

Material And Methods: Samples of fresh and aged propolis of six different beekeepers, from the same geographical location, were investigated in terms of their phenolic and flavonoid composition and levels of Pb, Cd, and Cr, as well as radical scavenging and antimicrobial activities.
Results: The two groups of propolis had similar qualitative composition by HPLC-PDA and ESI(-)-MS.
Using a desorption/ionization technique, easy ambient sonic-spray ionization coupled to mass spectrometry (EASI-MS), documents related to the 2nd generation of Brazilian Real currency (R$) were screened in the positive ion mode for authenticity based on chemical profiles obtained directly from the banknote surface. Characteristic profiles were observed for authentic, seized suspect counterfeit and counterfeited homemade banknotes from inkjet and laserjet printers. The chemicals in the authentic banknotes' surface were detected via a few minor sets of ions, namely from the plasticizers bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) and dibutyl phthalate (DBP), most likely related to the official offset printing process, and other common quaternary ammonium cations, presenting a similar chemical profile to 1st-generation R$.

The intricate composition of propolis varies depending on plant sources from different geographic regions and many types have been reported. Red coloured propolis found in several states in Brazil and in other countries has known antimicrobial and antioxidant activity.

Aim: To evaluate the postoperative results of laparoscopic and laparotomic colorectal resections for colorectal cancer.
Methods: A retrospective study of a series of 189 patients.
An exceptionally easy to assemble source for ambient mass spectrometry is described. Based on Venturi easy ambient sonic-spray ionization (V-EASI), the source was further simplified by the use of a can of compressed air which simultaneously provides solution or solvent Venturi self-pumping and continuous, stable and abundant low-noise ion signal via voltage-free sonic-spraying. Further simplification was also attained by the use of inexpensive and readily commercially available parts: a surgical 2-way catheter, an aerosol can of compressed air, a 30 cm long fused-silica capillary and a hypodermic needle.

The formation of these unprecedented precatalysts with potential for cross-coupling reactions was confirmed by electrospray ionization (and tandem) mass spectrometry. The catalytic performance of the palladium complex was tested in Heck and Suzuki cross-coupling reactions, often with superior activity and yields as compared with Pd(OAc)(2).
