Objective: Several studies show that patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) tend to maintain or gain weight after the procedure, which would result in increased wear of the prosthesis and new surgical interventions in a smaller period of time in comparison with patients with adequate body mass index (BMI). The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of TKA surgery on these patients' BMI.
Methods: Initially the records were analyzed, chosen at random from 91 patients undergoing TKA during the period from August 2011 to July 2013.
Dislocation of the polyethylene component in knee arthroplasty is a rare complication. The main triggering factor is failure of the locking mechanism, which may result from technical errors of insertion, trauma or even implant failure. Here, a case of dislocation of the polyethylene component from the tibial base, nine years after revision arthroplasty, is reported.

Thus, experimental models are important for a better understanding of this disease and the evaluation of the effects of drugs.
Objective: To develop a model of experimental nonalcoholic steatohepatitis from use of methionine and choline deficient diet.
Background: Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis is a chronic liver disease with a high prevalence in the general population and a potential to evolve into cirrhosis. It is speculated that iron overload could be associated with liver injury and unfavorable progress in affected patients.
Aims: To evaluate the prevalence of mutation of the hemochromatosis gene (HFE) in patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis and to correlate it with histological findings in liver specimens.
