Introduction: The incidence of oncology patients is increasing due to the ageing of the population and advances in research leading to early diagnoses. This has resulted in an increase in the care required for patients at all stages of their illness. To describe the current situation of the overload of informal caregivers of cancer patients with tumour asthenia belonging to the Medical Oncology Service of the University Health Care Complex of Salamanca and the Palliative Care Unit of the Hospital de los Montalvos, we employed the following.

Colorectal cancer is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, with chemotherapy being a crucial treatment despite its significant side effects, such as chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN). Physical exercise has shown potential benefits in mitigating these side effects and improving patients' overall well-being. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of a strength exercise program in reducing CIPN in patients with colorectal cancer undergoing chemotherapy, along with secondary objectives including impacts on quality of life, body mass index, oxygen consumption, anxiety and depression, fatigue, sleep quality, and various analytical parameters.

Introduction: Ageing entails a series of neuroanatomical and neurophysiological changes in some cognitive processes that directly affect the daily life and autonomy of a person. We believe it is necessary to have tools that assess the cognitive functions that are essential for carrying out daily activities in an independent manner. The aim of this study was to translate the Everyday Cognition Battery (ECB) into Spanish, adapt it to the sociocultural context of Spain, and validate it by testing the psychometric properties, i.

Background: The increase in the survival of oncology patients include multiple side effects as cancer-related asthenia and dyspnea, which represents a serious health problem. An implementation of the conventional clinical practice, developed through multimodal physical exercise and functional rehabilitation program intervention, may be useful in controlling dyspnoea. This study aims to evaluate the effects of a multimodal exercise and functional rehabilitation program on fatigue, pain, functional capacity, and quality of life in cancer patients with cancer-related asthenia.

Background: Survival in cancer patients has increased exponentially in recent years, with multiple side effects caused by treatments. Cancer-related asthenia and dyspnea are among them, which represent a serious health problem, with considerable limitations and reduced quality of life. An implementation of the conventional clinical practice, developed through physical exercise, may be useful in controlling dyspnoea.

Article Synopsis
  • Dyspnoea, a common issue for advanced cancer patients, significantly impacts their autonomy, prompting the need for better treatment strategies beyond medication alone.
  • The study involved a randomized, controlled trial comparing an experimental group receiving functional rehabilitation to a control group on standard drug treatment, with a sample size of 113 patients.
  • Results showed that the rehabilitation program significantly improved functionality and reduced dyspnoea levels, indicating that non-pharmacological approaches can be beneficial for enhancing quality of life in cancer patients.
