This prospective, blinded, randomized crossover study aimed to assess the anesthetic effects of the combination of 30 mg/kg ketamine and 2 mg/kg midazolam via intranasal (IN) or intramuscular (IM) routes in twelve domestic chickens. Physiological parameters (respiratory rate - RR, heart rate - HR, and cloacal temperature -Tºcloacal) were monitored throughout the experiment, along with recovery time and sedation level (S0: awake, no recumbency, responsive to stimuli; S1: blinking eyes, recumbency, relaxed, response to stimulus, mild movement; S2: open eyes, recumbency, relaxed, mild response to stimuli; S3: closed eyes, recumbency, relaxed, no movement). In the IM group, all birds reached S3, while in IN 5/12 reached S3, 4/12 reached at most S1, and 1/12 at most S2.

Methods: In this randomized experimental study, AIS was induced by thermocoagulation in 30 healthy male Wistar rats. After 24 h, AIS animals were randomly assigned to PSV or PCV with V = 6 mL/kg and PEEP = 2 cmHO (PSV-PEEP2 and PCV-PEEP2) or PEEP = 5 cmHO (PSV-PEEP5 and PCV-PEEP5) for 2 h.

Optimal fluid management is critical during mechanical ventilation to mitigate lung damage. Under normovolemia and protective ventilation, pulmonary tensile stress during pressure-support ventilation (PSV) results in comparable lung protection to compressive stress during pressure-controlled ventilation (PCV) in experimental acute lung injury (ALI). Although the PaO 2/FiO 2 derived from arterial blood gas analysis remains the gold standard for the diagnosis of acute respiratory failure, the SpO2/FiO2 has been investigated as a potential substitute. The current narrative review presents the state of the preclinical and clinical literature on the SpO2/FiO2 as a possible substitute for PaO2/FiO2 and for use as a diagnostic and prognostic marker; provides an overview of pulse oximetry and its limitations, and assesses the utility of SpO2/ FiO2 as a surrogate for PaO2/FiO2 in COVID-19 patients. Overall, 49 studies comparing SpO2/FiO2 and PaO2/FiO2 were found according to a minimal search strategy.

Purpose: To study the force used for tightening tapered one-piece prosthetic abutments and their influence on the removal torque value and stress level of the prosthetic abutment after cyclic loading.
Materials And Methods: Fourteen implants and prosthetic abutments were divided into two groups (n = 7): G1, 20 Ncm; and G2, 32 Ncm (manufacturer recommended). A 20-mm T-shaped horizontal bar was adapted to the abutments.
Statement Of Problem: The loss of the first molar and second premolar could lead to mesial movement of the second molar, thus limiting the restoration space for the 2 missing teeth. Placement of a larger first molar is a common choice, but the best implant number and position option remain controversial.
Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to test different planning options for replacing the mandibular first molar.
