Ovariectomy modifies lipid metabolism of retroperitoneal white fat in rats: a proteomic approach.

Menopause is often accompanied by visceral obesity. With the aim of exploring the consequences of ovarian failure on visceral fat, we evaluated the effects of ovariectomy and estrogen replacement on the proteome/phosphoproteome and on the fatty acid profile of the retroperitoneal adipose depot (RAT) of rats. Eighteen 3-mo-old female Wistar rats were either ovariectomized or sham operated and fed with standard chow for 3 mo.

Effects of n-6 and n-3 polyunsaturated acid-rich soybean phosphatidylcholine on membrane lipid profile and cryotolerance of human sperm.

Objective: To study the effects of n-6 and n-3 polyunsaturated acid-rich soybean phosphatidylcholine (soy-PC) on sperm cryotolerance with regard to sperm membrane lipid profile, membrane surface integrity, and routine semen parameters.

Design: Experimental study.

Non-Invasive Prediction of Blastocyst Formation by Day Three Embryo Culture Medium Mass Spectrometry Lipid Fingerprinting.

Objective: To identify lipid markers of blastocyst formation by day three culture medium mass spectrometry (MS) fingerprinting.

Methods: For this study, 50 embryo samples from culture media were harvested on day three, from patients undergoing embryo transfers on day five. Samples were split into groups based on their degree of expansion and hatching status on day five (Complete-Blastocyst, n=25 and No-Blastocyst, n=25) and its secretomes were analysed by MS.
