Because of specific regulatory requirements and limited suppliers of HSA acceptable for human use, there was a need to replace HSA with recombinant human albumin (rHA) to mitigate any potential risk to the availability of M-M-R(®)II.

However, diseases caused by serotypes not included in PCV7 have increased. A 15-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV15) containing serotypes in PCV7 and 8 additional serotypes (1, 3, 5, 6A, 7F, 19A, 22F, 33F) was developed and evaluated in toddlers 12 to 15 months of age.

Objective: We investigated for the first time in infants an oral, liquid formulation of G1 and G2 human bovine reassortant rotavirus vaccine (HRRV) with a new stabilizer/buffer (S/B) containing sucrose, sodium phosphate and sodium citrate.
Methods: During 1997 through 1998, 731 healthy infants approximately 2 to 4 months of age were enrolled at 19 US sites to receive 3 HRRV or placebo doses approximately 6 to 8 weeks apart in a partially double blinded study.
