The Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) is available in German. Apart from data in its manual, there are no further reports on the psychometric properties of this questionnaire and on its suitability for clinical use in Germany. This study therefore offers an independent investigation into the psychometrics as well as the clinical characteristics of the BAI.

We investigated whether inpatients suffering from comorbid complicated grief disorder benefited from an additional manualized nine-session group intervention. For this purpose, 50 patients participating in the additional complicated grief intervention were compared with 22 control patients who received treatment as usual. After grief intervention, we found large effect sizes with regard to improvement in complicated grief symptoms.

Objective: Gaining insights into the frequencies of negative obstetric histories in inpatients of a behavioural medicine hospital and the extent of their current psychological burdens.

Method: We acquired sociodemographic, obstetric and psychological (psychopathology, coping patterns, and attribution styles) data of 117 inpatients by means of standardized questionnaires and interviews.

Results: Eighteen percent of the women exhibited a negative obstetric history (spontaneous, medically indicated or voluntary abortion) that dated back an average of 16 years.
