Objective: To determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal injuries and their relation to different presentation variables in inline speed skaters by age categories, between 8 and 23 years of age, from Villavicencio, Colombia.
Methods: An observational cross-sectional or prevalence analytical study was developed by applying an information collection instrument that was designed and validated qualitatively and quantitatively. The instrument included variables associated with the presentation of lesions organized in five domains.
Objective: Describing how a tool was designed for assessing disabled people in Colombia (called "Occupational evaluation of handicapped people in Colombia").
Method: This was a multi-method study which consisted of five phases and a stakeholder participation-based strategy. The first stage of the multi-method research involved a literature review followed by expert judgment and then peer assessment of the tool; the fourth stage involved a pilot study and and a basic training course in occupational assessment involved the tool's socialisation with actors working in the field of occupational assessment, taking their suggestions into account for final adjustment of the tool.

Objective: Describing how a tool was created/constructed for certifying Colombian people's disability status.
Method: This was a descriptive study involving a five-phase, multi-method design. It sought to identify needs, background, categories and procedures from differing view points, using participatory methodology, for identifying and certifying disabled people in Colombia.

Certifying disability in Colombia has been demanded by disabled people; the country has assumed such challenge within the frame work of current legislation and international agreements signed by Colombia. A model of international classification of functioning (ICF), disability and healthwas thus adopted as it has been validated internationally in several studies; it incorporates international standards thereby allowing reliable evaluation of individuals' functional status. This essayinitially defines the concept of disabilityand locates it within a historical context leading to current ICF domain structure and categories.
