Objective: This study aimed to utilize functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to analyze brain activity in different regions and then construct MST-based regions to characterize the brain topologies of participants with Alzheimer's disease (AD), mild cognitive impairment (MCI), and normal controls (NC).

Resting-state fMRI (rs-fMRI) has emerged as an alternative method to study brain function in human and animal models. In humans, it has been widely used to study psychiatric disorders including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorders, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorders. In this review, rs-fMRI and its advantages over task based fMRI, its currently used analysis methods, and its application in psychiatric disorders using different analysis methods are discussed.
