Prior history of transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) can complicate Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP). Very few studies analyse the outcomes of RARP in men with a prior history of TURP. We analysed the oncological and functional outcomes of RARP in post-TURP men from our prospectively maintained database.

Background: The overdiagnosis of penicillin allergy and misclassification of non-truly allergic reactions is a growing public health problem, associated with the overuse of broad-spectrum and restricted antimicrobials. We aimed to evaluate the impact of penicillin allergy status on antimicrobial prescribing.

Methods: A retrospective study of inpatients with a documented penicillin allergy receiving antimicrobials was conducted from 1 April to 1 July 2021.

Purpose: Isolated recurrence in remnants of the seminal vesicles (SV) after treatment of primary prostate cancer (PCa) has become a more frequent entity with the widespread use of more sensitive next-generation imaging modalities. Clonal hematopoiesis related TET2 loss-of-function impedes IL1β-mediated epigenetic reprogramming in hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells.

Clonal hematopoiesis (CH) is defined as a single hematopoietic stem/progenitor cell (HSPC) gaining selective advantage over a broader range of HSPCs. When linked to somatic mutations in myeloid malignancy-associated genes, such as TET2-mediated clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential or CHIP, it represents increased risk for hematological malignancies and cardiovascular disease. IL1β is elevated in patients with CHIP, however, its effect is not well understood.

Breast Cancer Incidence Among Asian American Women in New York City: Disparities in Screening and Presentation.

Background: Asian American (AsAm) women have some of the lowest rates of up-to-date breast cancer screening, and lack of disaggregated racial/ethnic data can mask disparities. We evaluated presentation patterns among AsAms at two hospitals with distinct communities: New York Presbyterian-Queens (NYPQ), in Flushing, Queens and Weill Cornell Medical Center (WCM), on the Upper East Side (UES) neighborhood of Manhattan.

Cancer is a major public health issue that is associated with significant morbidity and mortality across the globe. At its root, cancer represents a genetic aberration, but socioeconomic, environmental, and geographic factors contribute to different cancer outcomes for selected population subsets. The disparities in the delivery of healthcare affect all aspects of cancer management from early prevention to end-of-life care.

Landmark Series: The Cancer Genome Atlas and the Study of Breast Cancer Disparities.

Race-related variation in breast cancer incidence and mortality are well-documented in the United States. The effect of genetic ancestry on disparities in tumor genomics, risk factors, treatment, and outcomes of breast cancer is less understood. The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) is a publicly available resource that has allowed for the recent emergence of genome analysis research seeking to characterize tumor DNA and protein expression by ancestry as well as the social construction of race and ethnicity.

Self-removal of catheter after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy: a feasibility study.

Self-removal of urinary catheter as an option after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) has never been explored in literature. We report the feasibility and outcome of the first study of this novel concept in our hospital. We conducted a prospective audit of self-TWOC (trial without catheter) in men who underwent consecutive RARP in our centre between April 2022 and September 2022.

The Landmark Series: The Breast Cancer Burden of the Asian American Population and the Need for Disaggregated Data.

The Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) population is a heterogeneous group of people from geographically and ethnically distinct regions of the world. Traditionally, these patients have been reported as one large aggregate in the breast cancer literature under the race category of "Asian." A detailed examination of this group shows compelling evidence that breast cancer manifests differently among Asian ethnic subgroups, resulting in overlooked health disparities when these races are grouped together.

Comparison of the MOdified NARanjo Causality Scale (MONARCSi) for Individual Case Safety Reports vs. a Reference Standard.

Introduction: In 2018, we published the MONARCSi algorithmic decision support tool showing high inter-rater agreement, moderate sensitivity, and high specificity compared with drug-event pairs (DEPs) previously reviewed using current, industry-established approaches. Following publication, MONARCSi was implemented as a prototype system to facilitate medical review of individual case safety reports (ICSRs). This paper presents subsequent evaluation of MONARCSi-supported causality assessments against an independent, best achievable reference standard.

Etrolizumab as induction and maintenance therapy in patients with moderately to severely active Crohn's disease (BERGAMOT): a randomised, placebo-controlled, double-blind, phase 3 trial.
