Persistent hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia of infancy (PHHI), the most common cause of persistent hypoglycemia in the neonatal period and infancy, is a genetic disorder characterized by abnormal regulation of insulin secretion. Octreotide, a somatostatin analog, is often used as a second-line treatment when diazoxide therapy fails to control hypoglycemia. We report herein a rare development of octreotide-induced hepatitis following prolonged treatment for PHHI in an infant.
