Objective: This article describes the adaptation, development, and psychometric properties of survey instruments to assess outcomes of bystander-focused violence prevention efforts among high school students, including media literacy, rape myths, bystander readiness, bystander barriers and facilitators of bystander action, bystander intentions, perceptions of school personnel helping, perceptions of peer helping, and victim empathy.

Method: The study was based on data collected from 3,172 high school students across 25 schools in northern New England.

Results: Overall, the measures demonstrated acceptable fit indices in multilevel exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses.

Research on bystander behavior in situations of dating violence (DV) and sexual violence (SV) in youth populations is growing; yet, there is a distinct lack of qualitative studies to identify nuances in specifically how and when youth are taking action to help to inform theory, measurement, and programming. The current study examined bystander action plans of high school youth after their participation in a classroom-based, bystander-focused prevention program, to inform bystander behavior measurement and programming within the context of DV and SV research and practice. High school youth ( = 889) from schools across New England completed a bystander-focused violence prevention curriculum and subsequently wrote a bystander plan of action addressing a situation of DV or SV that they had seen before or were likely to see again in the future.

We discuss invisibility cloaking of metal grid electrodes on Lambertian light emitters by using dielectric free-form surfaces. We show that cloaking can be ideal in geometrical optics for all viewing directions if reflections at the dielectric-air interface are negligible. We also present corresponding white-light proof-of-principle experiments that demonstrate close-to-ideal cloaking for a wide range of viewing angles.

The integration of periodic nanodisk arrays into the channel of a light-emitting field-effect transistor leads to enhanced and directional electroluminescence from thin films of purified semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes. The maximum enhancement wavelength is tunable across the near-infrared and is directly linked to the periodicity of the arrays. Background: We present a multivariate test system using flow cytometry after in-vitro lymphocyte stimulation using 5 mitogens and 7 antigens to describe in-vitro immunofunction.

Methods: The present work is a crucial step towards establishing a simple, CFSE-based, multivariate test system that can describe the dynamics of stimulus-induced lymphocyte proliferation with considerably more precision than is possible with the radionucleotide method using 3H-thymidine. Using multicolour flow cytometry, our method allows additional phenotyping of the proliferating cells and quantifies the proliferation behaviour by precisely resolving daughter generations and determining the precursor frequency.
