Article Synopsis
  • This research investigates how the COVID-19 pandemic affected sexual function, sexual activity, and pain during sex (dyspareunia) in women previously treated for vaginismus, a condition causing pain during intercourse.
  • The study included data from 204 women, revealing significant increases in sexual dysfunction scores and depression levels during the pandemic compared to before, while the frequency of sexual activity remained relatively stable.
  • The findings suggest that mental health decline during the pandemic had an adverse effect on sexual function, urging therapists to address these pandemic-related changes in their treatment strategies for women experiencing sexual dysfunction.
