Adolescents with mental illnesses often struggle with adhering to prescribed medication regimens. This study investigates how patient perceptions influence medication adherence among adolescents with psychiatric disorders. It also examines the role of patient characteristics and medication-related factors on adherence and attitudes.

Assessing cognitive functions in non-neuropsychiatric childhood systemic lupus erythematosus: Cross-sectional study.

Objectives: Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by multisystem, including neuropsychiatric, involvement. The nervous system is affected in 20-27 % of patients within approximately two years after diagnosis. This study aimed to examine neurocognitive impairment in childhood-onset SLE (cSLE) patients before the development of any neurological, psychiatric, or cognitive manifestations.

Advancing patient care: novel scales for assessing adherence and attitudes toward medication among adolescents with psychiatric disorders and their parents.

Adolescents with psychiatric disorders may struggle with medication adherence and this can lead to ineffective treatment. Subjective factors, such as attitudes, beliefs, experiences, have a greater impact on adherence in adolescents than objective factors. To better understand these subjective attitudes, self-evaluation rating scales should be developed.

Dysregulation in children: Origins and implications from age 5 to age 28.

Research shows that childhood dysregulation is associated with later psychiatric disorders. It does not yet resolve discrepancies in the operationalization of dysregulation. It is also far from settled on the origins and implications of individual differences in dysregulation.
