This work, of utmost importance, aimed to apply the photo-tissue bonding technique (PTB) to weld the amniotic membrane (AM) to the corneal surface versus an amniotic membrane graft (AMG) and explore its safety in saving corneal protein against alkali burn.Methods Twenty-seven rabbits with an induced corneal ulcer using 1 mol/L NaOH solution.

Factors associated with parental intentions to vaccinate 0-4-year-old children against COVID-19 in Canada: a cross-sectional study using the Childhood COVID-19 Immunization Coverage Survey (CCICS).

Background: The objective of this study was to determine the factors associated with low or no parental intention to vaccinate children of 0-4-years in Canada with a COVID-19 vaccine through the 2022 Childhood COVID-19 Immunization Coverage Survey (CCICS). The CCICS was conducted prior to the introduction of a COVID-19 vaccine and a vaccine recommendation for this age group.

Methods: Simple and multiple logistic regression models were used to determine associations between sociodemographic factors as well as knowledge, attitudes and beliefs and low/no intentions to vaccinate against COVID-19 among parents of children 0-4 years.

Functional investigation of genetic variants found in long QT syndrome can provide evidence that is needed to confirm the genetic diagnosis and establish the cause of the condition. We performed functional assessment to determine the -score, using a clinically calibrated automated patch clamp assay, for 2 missense variants found in 2 families that have been diagnosed with long QT syndrome. These variants are currently classified as variant of uncertain significance in ClinVar.

The goal of this study is to document outcomes of ablation for high-risk accessory pathways in paediatrics using 3D mapping systems with minimal to zero fluoroscopy. It is a cross-sectional, multicentre study, conducted between 2013 and 2023, and involving four different centres in Hungary, Croatia, Kuwait, and Slovenia. A total of 128 procedures were performed on 111 patients.

Background: Poor maternal nutrition is a significant public health problem, especially in conflict-affected areas. Lactating mothers are particularly vulnerable due to increased nutritional demands. The recent conflict in the Tigray region has resulted in serious crises and disruptions, worsening maternal undernutrition.

Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) associated diseases remain a global public health issue and linked with Sustainable Development Goal 6. In November 2020, a war broke out in Tigray, Ethiopia, resulting in a negative health consequence. The post war status of WASH and its associated diseases are not documented.

Background: Anastomotic strictures following colectomy and proctectomy are a significant cause of benign lower gastrointestinal tract (LGIT) obstruction, with a reported incidence of up to 30%. Endoscopic interventions such as balloon dilation, stricturotomy, mechanical dilation, electrocautery incision, and stent placement are utilized for management. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of endoscopic interventions for the management of benign LGIT anastomotic strictures.

Under-five mortality during the war in Tigray: A community-based study.

Background: Child mortality is one of the key indicators of the Sustainable development goals. The Ethiopian healthcare system in general and Tigray's healthcare system in particular has shown a remarkable progress in terms of reducing maternal, neonatal, and under-five mortality in the last couple of decades. However, the war erupted in November 2020 caused the healthcare system to collapse and little is known about the status of child mortality in Tigray.

An Anaphylactic Encounter With Ferric Gluconate Infusion: A Case Report.

Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a prevalent condition globally, often necessitating intravenous iron therapy. We present a case of a 71-year-old female with IDA who experienced a severe anaphylactic reaction shortly after commencing a sodium ferric gluconate complex infusion. Prompt cessation of the infusion and administration of epinephrine with steroids led to rapid recovery.

Porta hepatis lymphnode mimicking biliary atresia: A case report.

Introduction: Cholestasis is the impairment of normal bile flow causing accumulation of bile salts, lipids, and bilirubin in blood which presents as Jaundice. Jaundice beyond 2 weeks of age is rare in infancy with worldwide incidence of 1 in 2500 live births. Biliary atresia is the most common extra hepatic cause of cholestasis in late neonatal and infancy period.
