Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) is the subject of exploration as an adjunct treatment for neurological disorders such as epilepsy, chronic migraine, pain, and depression. A non-invasive form of VNS is transcutaneous auricular VNS (taVNS). Combining animal models and positron emission tomography (PET) may lead to a better understanding of the elusive mechanisms of taVNS.

Early diagnosis is paramount for not only the management of the disease, but also for the development of new AD treatments. The current golden standard for diagnosis is performed by positron emission tomography (PET) scans with the tracer [C]Pittsburg Compound B ([C]PiB), which targets amyloid beta protein (A) that builds up as plaques in the brain of AD patients.

The reaction is catalyzed by a readily available and stable nickel(II) pincer complex. The developed protocol tolerates substrates bearing a variety of functional groups, which would be problematic or incompatible with previous synthetic methods.
