JAK 2-Positive Diseases and Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection: Case Series.

Introduction: Chronic myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) such as polycythaemia vera (PV) and essential thrombocytosis are associated with atherosclerosis and cardiovascular events, especially if JAK2 mutation is there. In rare cases, also spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) can be seen.

Case Presentation: This case series describes two case reports of MPNs in which SCAD was found in both of them in addition to standard atherosclerosis.

Rasmussen's Aneurysm in Active Pulmonary Tuberculosis: A Case Report.

Hemoptysis is a common presenting symptom of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). Rasmussen aneurysm can present with severe hemoptysis, which is usually diagnosed using computed tomography (CT) angiography. A false aneurysmal dilatation of the pulmonary artery is known as a Rasmussen aneurysm.

Isolated Sixth Cranial Nerve Palsy as Initial Presentation of Pituitary Apoplexy: A Case Report.

Pituitary apoplexy is a serious condition, which if left untreated, might lead to irreversible life-long complications. Hence, pituitary apoplexy should always be included in the differential diagnoses of a patient with an isolated sixth cranial nerve (CN) palsy. This report highlights the case of a patient presenting with isolated CN palsy associated with pituitary apoplexy.

Economic impact of clinical pharmacist interventions in a general tertiary hospital in Qatar.

Background: With an increasingly strained health system budgets, healthcare services need to continually demonstrate evidence of economic benefits. This study sought to evaluate the economic impact of interventions initiated by clinical pharmacists in an adult general tertiary hospital.

Methods: A retrospective review of clinical pharmacist interventions was carried out throughout follow-up durations in March 2018, July/August 2018, and January 2019 in Hamad General Hospital (HGH) at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) in Qatar.

Isolated Great Saphenous Vein Thrombosis in a Patient With COVID-19 Infection: Case Report and Review of the Literature.

On 30 January 2020, the Director-General declared that the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) constitutes a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), and on 11 March 2020, it was characterized as a pandemic. Since then, patients with COVID-19 infection are commonly reported to have an increased risk of thrombosis in various blood vessels due to hypercoagulability, blood stasis, and endothelial damage. In this study, we will present a case of a pregnant lady who was evaluated for right leg pain that started one week after having upper respiratory tract symptoms and COVID-19 infection confirmed by the COVID antigen (Ag) test.

Severe Myocarditis in a Female Following mRNA-1273 Vaccine: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.

Myocarditis was recently described as one of the complications secondary to COVID-19 vaccination. We present a 38-year-old lady diagnosed with vaccine-related myocarditis a few days after receiving the mRNA-1273 vaccine. We also summarize what is reported in the literature about the association between COVID-19 vaccination and myocarditis.

Post-COVID-19 Vaccine Limbic Encephalitis: A Case Report.

Limbic encephalitis (LE) diagnosis can be challenging due to its broad spectrum of clinical presentation and variety of causes. The most commonly known causes include paraneoplastic and autoimmune, but they can also occur post-vaccine. Since 2020, many people worldwide have received the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine after FDA approval.

Malaria causing post-infectious cerebellitis, a case report and literature review.

Background: Malaria is a common parasitic infection with a wide range of clinical presentations. Thus, it should be suspected for any symptomatic patient with a recent travel history to a malaria-endemic area.

Case Presentation: In this case report, we will present a previously healthy 28-year-old patient who developed cerebellar signs that were attributed to infectious etiology later on proven to be a malaria-related complication that responded well to anti-malarial medications.

Non-immune Intravascular Hemolytic Anemia, an Unusual Presentation of Severe Vitamin B-12 Deficiency.

Vitamin B12 deficiency is a multifactorial condition, with a wide range of clinical presentations from mild to severe anemia and anemia-related neurological deficits. Hemolysis is a unique cause but has increasingly been recognized lately as a possible B12 deficiency presentation. Our patient presented with hemolytic anemia, for which extensive workup has excluded the common hemolysis etiologies.

COVID-19 Vaccine-Induced Cerebral Sinus Thrombosis: Coincidence vs. Cause?

Patients who were vaccinated against COVID-19 have experienced thrombosis-thrombocytopenia syndrome and cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST). It is important to be aware of this potential side effect of the vaccine and to be able to recognize early clinical symptoms and signs of CVST. In this paper, we present two cases of COVID-19 vaccination-related CVST.

Splenic Infarctions in Polycythaemia Vera are Not Always a Catastrophe.

Unlabelled: Splenic infarction can occur as an infrequent thrombotic manifestation in polycythaemia vera (PV) and is usually catastrophic. We describe the case of a middle-aged woman who was diagnosed with PV 3 months before she presented to the emergency department with acute limb ischaemia. A splenic infarction detected on diagnostic imaging during her hospital stay was treated conservatively with modification of her hydroxyurea dose along with pain management, without the need for surgery.
