Background: A total of 62/66 (93.9%) residents in a senior citizen home in Bremen, Germany, received the first dose of the Biontech/Pfizer vaccine BNT162b2 on December 27th 2020. After routine severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) antigen tests showed positive results on January 5th, all residents and staff were tested by RT-PCR.

We report on the exemplified realization of a digital to physical process chain for a patient individualized osteosynthesis plate for the tarsal bone area. Anonymized patient-specific data of the right feet were captured by computer tomography, which were then digitally processed to generate a surface file format (standard tessellation language, STL) ready for additive manufacturing. Physical realization by selective laser melting in titanium using optimized parameter settings and post-processing by stress relief annealing results in a customized osteosynthesis plate with superior properties fulfilling medical demands.

We report on the generation of a cobalt-chromium dental framework with superior precision and fitting accuracy using selective laser melting. The objective of this study is the reduction of surface roughness and the possibility to manufacture a dental framework with high precision for passive fit with attachments, in particular a round tack. After selective laser melting, the dental framework is thermally post processed at 750 °C, shot-blasted with glass and highly polished.
